ROCKER Melissa Etheridge is having the time of her life on Broadway!
The singer currently preparing for her five-day stint in Green Day’s American Idiot musical.
“It’s been crazy. Oh my God, it’s so fun, though,” she said.
“I’m having a blast. I’m so outside of my comfort zone and I’m, like, living out high school fantasies.
“To get up there on stage without a guitar in front of me is the first sort of fear barrier I had to get through.
“I never had to use that part of my brain [as I do with choreography] – singing and then moving at the same time with a lot of other people. If you mess up, you’re gonna get trampled.”
Meanwhile, Etheridge — who recently had a bitter breakup from her longtime partner Tammy Lynn Michaels — is said to be getting”hot and heavy” with Hollywood producer/writer Linda Wallem, the creative force behind the hit cable TV series Nurse Jackie.
“Linda has been talking constantly on the set about how she and Melissa are in love and how they’re in a committed relationship,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.
Melissa and Linda have known each other for years. Linda was the best friend of Tammys.
When Tammy and Melissa exchanged wedding vows in 2003 in a lavish ceremony at Dick Clark’s Malibu estate, Linda was in the wedding party.
“In lesbian terms, Linda was the ‘best lady,’” the source said.
“Now she’s taken Tammy’s place.”
