Billy JoelBILLY Joel doesn’t hate Elton John!

Elton recently said he thinks Joel may “punch him in the face” after he told Rolling Stone that the rocker goes to “rehab light”.

“He hates me at the moment and I understand why,” Elton told Matt Lauer on Today. “He sent me a message and he’s not happy and I understand that.

“I’m sorry I had to say it, but I’m saying it because I really want Billy to live a long life and be very happy. That’s all it came from. I understand why he’s pissed with me and I can take that on the chin.

“I’m only trying to help. Maybe I should have done it privately, but I’ve been so frustrated over the years.

“But I do love him and I want to stress that. He may want to punch my face in at the moment, but it’s okay.”

But in a statement to Rolling Stone magazine, Joel insists he isn’t angry with the Rocket Man hitmaker.

“1: I do not hate Elton John,” the statement said. “2: I do not want to ‘punch him in the face’. 3: If he wants to call me, my number is still the same. 4: Good luck with the movie. BILLY JOEL.”

Billy previously responded to Elton’s comments also through his publicist saying, “I’ve enjoyed our relationship too much to let something as random as these comments change my affection for him. Elton is just being Elton.”.

    I’m a big fan of both of these amazingly talented men.I do believe that Elton is genuinely concerned about Billy Joel. Alot of times its harder to speak up than remain quiet.

    Its lit not light moron, you dont go to rehab three pounds lighter, you go lit up on drugs. Im glad this story makes no sense because this journalist is a fool. IT’S LIT NOT LIGHT.

      Nooooooo, Tim. The writer meant “light”. As in, “Rehab light”. In this sense, Elton John is saying, “Yo. Billy needs, like, major rehab, man, and instead he’s goin’ to some BS program that is a lighter version of what the dude needs to straighten out his issues.”

    Yeah Elton, you have a habit of letting a lot of things “slip” publicly that should be said privately. Funny how that keeps happening, huh? You’re not his friend, you only seek attention which is why you can’t stop running your mouth about other celebrities, e.g. Madonna, George Michael. I wish someone would punch you in the face so your lips would swell shut and you couldn’t speak for a good year!

    And I saw you both on your Face to Face tour a few years ago, and Billy blew you out of the water!

    I read the RS interview and it’s definately said in “tough love.” He also criticized Joel for no longer writing music. Great interview.

    I love both musicians. Best friends always get into arguments over such things. These two have played concerts and hung out together. I think things are getting blown out of proportion. I do wish Billy Joel would go back to writing music. there is definitely a lack of good music in these times. Today’s rock music is so whiny. And popstars like Lady ga Ga just stink.
