RICKY Gervais wants Will Arnett to replace Steve Carell on The Office.

The British funnyman — who created the hit show, which currently airs on NBC — says he’d like Arnett to fill the void that’ll be left by Carell when he leaves the series later this year.

“Had a little meeting with NBC about various things and recommended Will Arnett for a regular in The Office,” Ricky wrote on his blog.

“Thoughts? I think he’s amazing.”

Arnett is best known for his roles on the comedy shows Arrested Development and Running Wilde.

Recent reports claimed Gervais will bring back Mr Ben.

“Ricky was and still is a huge Mr Ben fan,” says a source close to the star.

“He’s always on the look out for exciting projects and this one has huge potential. It would be a family movie and live action rather than animated.”
