AMERICAN IDOL: SIMON FULLER SAYS AMERICAN IDOL IS BETTER WITHOUT SIMON COWELL!!

Posted by Adam

Simon FullerSIMON Fuller thinks American Idol has improved since Simon Cowell left.

The former Spice Girls manager — who created the show — says the program has lost its “negativity” and is concentrating on relating to the contestants since the acid-tongued music mogul quite his judging role.

“We wanted to lose the negativity and be more motivational,” Fuller said. “We understand this show’s success is based entirely on the authentic journey of real people with a passion and a dream, no gimmicks, no spin, no smoke and mirrors.

“The best surprise about this new Idol season is the positivity and energy.”

The 50-year-old producer also revealed how everyone involved in the show is taking more pride in their work since Cowell left.

“All the producers, editors and crew have taken a new pride in the show,” Fuller said. “Each person focused on making everything they do better.”

Cowell — who produces rival reality talent show The X Factor — left American Idol last year and Fuller says his new judging panel of Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler are much more sympathetic towards the aspiring hopefuls who audition.

“The addition of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, real stars who also shared that dream, has brought a new level of understanding and empathy to the show,” he said.

“They can identify with each and every one of those contestants and what it really means to have a dream.”

Fuller also praised the show’s new mentor Jimmy Iovine, calling him, “Probably the world’s most brilliant music executive and producer”.

Cowell and Fuller legally battled over the similar formats of their TV shows in 2005 and eventually settled with an out-of-court agreement.

This guy looks like simons gay twin.

I agree with Simon Fuller, Simon Cowell was unneccessarily rude to the contestants, and Paula was spacy and overly nice to the point you really didn’t trust her opinion. The show was getting stale and too predictable. Simon thought he was such a “hot shot” that his opinion of someone was set in stone. Many people he criticized went on to create a career for themselves which was greater than some Simon thought were the best.
I am really enjoying the show more than I was before, even though I have always looked forward to it.
I think it is a nice change.

Simon Fuller has no idea what he’s talking about! Now everyone who makes it on “American Idol”is getting second rate judging! Why wouldn’t it be better, other than Randy you have push over judges! American Idol was REAL when Simon Cowell was there, at least he spoke what everyone else was thinking, now it’s all “lollipops and sugar plums”…Sugarcoated! C’mon, time to be real, at least for now you can enjoy your audience because when “X-Factor” starts…uh,,,bye.bye American Idol! People want real criticism these days, and if you don’t get that, why would you want to half-way win?

I totally agree with Kim 100+ percent. American idol is not the same and NEVER will be without Simon Cowell, I do not care what anybody says. I feel that the constructive criticism Simon used to give the contestants was the main ingredient that made each and every one of them (at least the contestants that wanted to do their ABSOLUTE best)to strive to do better. American Idol this year is an entirely different show without Simon, and needless to say, that is how it is. You are absolutely correct when you say once X-Factor starts, it will be bye-bye to American Idol viewers.

the only problem with this analysis is, that too often Simon Cowell’s critizism was not constructive. He could just be mean. But he was popular and his new show will do fine too.

American Idol is no where near as good since Simon left. I thought he was rude sometimes but always truthful. I still watch but have really lost interest and haven’t even voted this year. It’s just not the same!

Simon rarely gave “constructive” criticism! He was a terrible judge for contestants who are young and sensitive and just starting out. Simon’s cruel comments will stay with them forever. And I’m sure they were embarrassed to be humiliated in front of 40 million viewers inc. their friends and family. I’m glad Simon is gone. I just want the Judges to be authentic. Speak the truth but don’t be mean. Give them praise and encouragement so they will do a better job. That’s what I think Jennifer and Steven are doing and it seems to be working. I too like the professional mentors who are helping them. However be consistent. They have given Scotty conflicting recommendation. He does not have the style to be reaching those screeching notes like Adam Lambert and James Durbin. That’s not his style. I loved the song he sang last night and think the Judges were on the wrong tack. I personally think Scotty should win. He’s better than the country singer who won a million dollars on America’s Got Talent last year. Although that guy was good too. However, I think Jackie Evancho should have won and I do suspect that she had the most votes and should have. She didn’t win due to age discrimination in my opinion. On AI, the favorites seem to keep landing in second place. I think it’s fixed, along with most of the world. Adam should have won last year.

  • Marie

I think James Durbin is at a disadvantage because his style is like Adam Lambert’s and he’s not Adam. I think
we would all like to see Adam return. AI should help Adam get back on track after he nearly destroyed his own career. Hopefully Adam has a good manager now.

sorry i do not agree with the joice of judges this year , they show too much of their favorites when they give their opions , also i really object to the video they showed of Jennifer lopezlast videio, too much for the show as a lot of young children watch this show I will no longer be watching this show nless the judges are replaced.they are over paid and do very little to help the show only Randy is the one to keep
