KIRK DOUGLAS: ANNE HATHAWAY CATCHES LEGEND KIRK DOUGLAS’ EYE AT THE OSCARS!

Posted by Adam

Kirk DouglasKIRK Douglas has a crush on Anne Hathaway!

The 94-year-old screen legend made a surprise appearance at the Oscars Sunday, and revealed he was quite attracted to its female co-host.

“She’s gorgeous!” Douglas gushed. “Where were you when I was making pictures?”

Kirk then lightly ribbed Hugh Jackman and Colin Firth before returning his attention to the ladies once again.

Announcing the category winner, Melissa Leo, Douglas told the actress, “You’re much more beautiful than you were in the fighter!”

Leo shot straight back, “You’re not so bad yourself…what you doing later on?”

Douglas’ public appearances have been few and far between since he suffered a stroke in 1996.

The young people’s Oscars _ what was Kirk doing there?

    • http://showbizspy Jim

Madcom, define “young”, and if Kirk is not young in spirit, who is?

    • http://yahoo.com nubian_exquinox

He had every right to be there. Kirk is a screen legend. I can guarantee you that most actors today were probably inspired by his gift.

      • Phil Brown

Yeah, what nerve he has. A REAL actor that did his own stunts, made movies that were REAL movies (not 98% of the crap made /now complete with special effects and the F word 4 times a sentence). The ONLY thing that could made it worth watching (which I did not) would be if Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Bert Lancaster had been there to join him. Now youngster, go watch Marmaduke or anything that is made to make Tom Cruise look tough.

Go rent “The Champion” starring Kirk Douglas, another boxing film, THEN you’ll see why Kirk had EVERY RIGHT to be there!

Showbiz spy, thank you very much for frightening me half to death. I am going to sue you for the emotional trauma that I suffered when confronted with the above picture of Mr. Kirk Douglas. Why did you have to alter that picture and also take that picture when he was about to close his eyes and in the middle of changing expressions on his face?

Kirk Douglas is a legend. He has been in so many movies that I have enjoyed watching over the years. He is a LEGEND.

But that picture is something I am not prepared to process first thing in the morning. I understand that if I am lucky that will be me years to come but will you feel the need to post pictures of my face in order to frighten small children and even adults?

    • REALDEAL

Trembling Quiver, It Is What It Is; we’re so use to seeing the facades of Hollywood stars that it is seldom that we get to see what they REALLY look like. (Maybe you need to hook him up with the same plastic surgeon Joan Rivers uses I think you can find his name in the yellow pages under “miracle worker”.)

      • Trembling quiver

Lol. I know right? Major props to Mr. Douglas for aging naturally. But that is what a true tough guy does. It comes natural. I should know. But I stand by my comment. Mr. Douglas is a public figure, unlike myself. He put himself out there knowing full well what he looks like. I know what I look like at times and I wouldn’t want to inflict my pic on the public. Having said that, Showbiz Spy is simply being, once again, unbelievably cruel in posting that particular picture when they could have chosen a pic when he was smiling. Showbiz Spy intentionally chose that picture in order to illicit they type of response that I made. So I fell right into their hands. I didn’t choose or post that pic. They did and they can answer for the intentional cruelty inflicted upon an elderly man who did nothing to them. Let them try to explain their actions on Judgment Day. I was taken aback at the visual because I have been a fan of Mr. Douglas’ for DECADES. And I realize that if I were a true fan, perhaps I shouldn’t have been a smart ass and posted my comment. But I am not the one who altered or did whatever they did to that pic to make it sort of alarming looking.

how can the Oscars not be embarrassed trotting him out….
    It was a awful

    Aging is life’s dirty trick.

  • JBoy

    God Bless Mr. Douglas

A show business legend. He is to be commended for going out there despite age and infirmity. At his age and in his condition , he could still act circles around half the coked up Hollywood a holes they call stars today.

  • jeanette woods

Mr. Douglas was my favorite part of the whole ceremony! The embarrassing part of it is he was more amusing than James Franco. Perhaps they should invite Mr. Douglas to host next year?

  • v. fojtik

to all of you nay sayers Mr. Douglas has been in the busy longer then many of have been alive….he is the true example of a great actor…..people nowadays confuse celebrity with talent….also if you had half a brain you would have noticed the theme was about industray from the past to the present and what better way to do it….

  • 6th Gear

Mr. Kirk Douglas–an actor when it was Hollywood, not Hollyweird. Thank God for Turner Classic Movies and some other older movie channels so one can sit and watch a real actor work his craft. I second the posts in Mr. Douglas’ behalf. A true gentleman, on and off the screen. A lot of today’s so-called actors and “stars” should sit up and take notice.

Kirk douglus is one of the most repected actors like the duke john wayne he made movies that were great and true you dont find that anymore its all hiped up with crazy things. he is a true legend and there are not many of them left it’s a great feeling when you can do what he’s done in his life and still going how many of you can say that. keep it up mr douglus

  • pat

Madcom….there but for the Grace of God…go you!!!

  • Trembling quiver

Make no mistake. I agree with all of the poster’s defending Mr. Douglas. As I stated in my earlier post, he is a legend. His acting abilities are of such a high quality and it’s true in terms of making comparisons to today’s movies…..there is no comparison. He actually acted. He acted in movies when movies were movies…not cash concerned only MTV music videos with a few lines interspersed throughout the video. History will show that the majority of the movies produced today by the scum of the earth greed dogs (you know who you are and what group you belong to) that care NOTHING about the viewing public. Their only concern is how much money they can accumulate before they are incinerated or buried. Kirk was from a time when movies actually contained conversations and spoken words. Not a video saturated with special effects and CG. I am not going to claim that there aren’t any good, well written movies with well written dialogue because there are. It’s just that they are too few and far between. And also I do enjoy many movies that have special effects as long as the plot contains lots of good dialogue.

Bottom line is Kirk Douglas could act circles around almost all of today’s actors and I am not sure if it’s the fault of today’s actors or is it simply because the actors are not offered enough movies that contain the necessary plots to up their game.

I hope I look that good when I’m 94. hell, i hope i live to be 94! If you’re a western fan check out some of his older flicks. He was amazing! Keep on trucking Mr. Douglas.

  • Lulu

    form of cruelty.

  • the fly

Kirk Douglas looked like Freddie Krueger

  • Dago T

It’s too bad the media reports on EVERYTHING it sees and hears. Like this (non) story. JFC — hasn’t Kirk earned more from Hollywood than this dreck?

And to “the fly” — he’s old, and maybe one day you will be old, too. Doubtful but maybe…

  • Dago T

BEST line ever uttered in a movie is Kirk Douglas in the movie “Cousins,” when he’s asked at dinner what he thinks of the wine being served: “Tell you the truth, I’d rather have a case of the clap than a case of this wine.”

  • Janet

I always loved to see Kirk Douglas in the movies many years ago when he was a star and a sex symbol. I got a chance to see him in person about ten to twelve years ago, and I was shocked and disappointed at how little he was. It is amazing how tall they make actors look on the
screen. I know they say you shrink as you get older, but he didn’t look more than 5 ft. 4 inches if he was that tall. It is sad that he had to have a stroke, and I admire his courage to attend the awards. However, he really looks very scary, and I am sure millions of people that saw him were horrified at how bad he looks and talks
and were making fun of him. I think he no doubt has had a face lift judged by the way his eyes and face look, and the surgeon didn’t do him any favors.

It is always a shock to see an aged person who looked
handsome in his younger years…but give credit where credit is due it couldnt have been too easy to walk out and speak in front of everyone that night of the Oscar’s with everyone making comparison from the past. Courage, that’s what it took!!! Good for you Kirk!

We found this site on yahoo search, very nice website. Will come back and look again, keep up the excellent work!

Yes, Anne Hathaway caught the eye of Kirk Douglas at the Oscars! Kirk is 94 and will soon be 95. Who says that we stop feeling romantic as we get older? Red blooded males all over the world (and some females) were drooling in front of their TV sets watching Anne Hathaway. She could grab the attention of an audience by walking on stage and saying nothing for 3 1/2 hours.

      Superior thinking deomsntrated above. Thanks!

Melissa Leo was born on September 14, 1960, in New York City. That very week, Kirk Douglas was starring in “Spartacus” in all of the movie theaters accross America. He had been in the movies for approximately 15 years by that date. What an honor it was for Melissa Leo and her family to have Melissa’s Oscar presented to her by Kirk Douglas, one of the most famous icons of the motion picture industry!
