Vanity Fair is the same rag that published an article about him around fall of 2009 (I think). In that one he said they were never an item off camera. The writer paints Kristen as a “saucy tomboy” even though the comments Kristen makes are crude and not how any girl speaks unless they were raised by wolves. Then the writer inserts her opinion that “Kristen clearly wears the pants in the relationship” even though he says they are movie partners only. When asked by the writer who is more romantic, Rob says “I’m just better at faking it”. The recent article was crafted a certain way to make him look bad just like the Details article was. They are paid to promote the couple image for the sake of box office. When Rob says they are not, they bury it in the story on purpose.

The VF article was edited unfavorably towards Rob – and not to elicit sympathy for him. Why else would they concentrate on his comment about Charlie Sheen and making him seem like he was complaining about Twilight.

Also the random f words. Rob has not been so loose with his language since interviews on Twi set. He knows better. Especially since he even commented about his mom getting upset with his cursing. Rob is either being misquoted or trying to seem cool to offset his image of being a nice guy. He does not get that his fans grew to like him as he was– vulnerable, humble, overwhelmed, open, sincere, funny, quirky and shy. The article was fashioned to make Rob seem like he is cracking up and totally belies the Ryan Seacrest interview he gave this am. The guy is fine and just needs a beer, an In and Out cheeseburger, rest, some female affection from someone he cares for other than Kristen and some R & R away from the limelight. Vanity Fair did a hatchet job on him like they did when he did the last interview with them.

to answer you – yes, i am pretty sure it was edited. that is the way magazines like VF work – the contract between VF and R/summit or fox or both i’m sure would allow for the opportunity for some tinkering as well on R’s part (or his handlers). this is a mag and not a newpaper.
also, typically the person who interviews is usually selected for a reason – with R as big a draw as VF needs sales i would guess that this was a plan of some sort as well. (at least that is what i saw in my work experience) and they have an agenda as well… Also, VF still needs to be able to interview celebs in the future, so they don’t want to p*ss anyone off, right? JMO
check out the exchange that Gabi and I had yesterday on the board here with R’s VF picture on the top – i think it was the “eater” board. we went back and forth a bit and we laid out our thoughts there on the PR front. Gabi also has a bit of PR experience as well.

also, the photographer for R was the one that VF used for Miley Cyrus a few years ago – so, i’m sure that was no coincidence either.

right you are – the interview took place while R was filming BD – that makes it all about Twilight and Summit (and the “twilight zone” comment in the mag as well).

The cover with the Shrew was heavily critisized. The Wintour must hate her for allowing such terrible photos to be printed. She couldn’t close her mouth and the buck theeth are overwhelming on the cover.

Ever wonder if it is all an act? Kristen did not become well know until she played Bella, she had been in over a dozen films. Maybe she started acting crass/crude for the attention. She is probably a nice girl in real life, who behaves differently with Robert. While I have no doubt that Robert is a sweet mannerly man, it could be assumed he likes “bad girls.” He would not have to explain why he likes her IF they were together, since so many people already believe it. The thing is that he already said they were not together and people did not believe him. They hang out just like people who are friends do; but only they are surround by cameras and people with agendas and fantasies when they do. If he somehow magically said they are, people would still be saying the same crap. Are people really that stupid that because he is man and she is woman they MUST date?

I used to think they were hiding their feelings publicly so Rob could be perceived as a hottie and single. It would help his career. I did not get why Michael still was in the picture and popped up in April 2009 in Vancouver. I did not understand why Rob regularly said “it is ridiculous about me being with her, we are platonic friends, she cares about me and I admire her as an actress” etc. He said she was breathtakingly beautiful but has a boyfriend. The point is that from the very start it was obvious she was a girl with a crush. He got to know her as a shy quiet girl which she is not. She declared she is not shy when they toured Italy for Twi promo. She changed and became shocking, crude,using bad language etc. in interviews and mags ONLY after Michael was out of the picture. She did not care anymore about her image OR the effort of acting nice was no longer worth it to her OR she became bitter from being rejected by Rob and no longer pretended to be sweet. Watch her at Comic Con 2008 compared to how she was at Comic Con 2009. Night and day transformation physically, mannerisms, vibe, stuttering, spacing out etc. Most young guys like forward and ‘bad’ girls when they are shy.

His parents are around as much as they are and sent his sister and Tom to NYC while he filmed Remember Me to watch over him. They were worried about visits from Emilie and Kristen. Rob and Kristen stated that no matter what they say, people will speculate and say they are hooking up or they are breaking up. So they say nothing. What Summit did not count on is the division of the fan base and the intense backlash against Kristen’s weird behavior. Rob’s coolness factor went down when he started to seem to be with this moron punk. Everything he had projected about himself seemed to be a lie if he could be interested in a girl that uses bad grammar, language, is rude, crude, vulgar and angry.

She went through a thing last year where she was using coarse language in every interview, giving the finger to the press and paps, dressing like a man in Australia, giving Rob the finger during the Eclipse panel discussion and many more unladylike actions. I said what I did about his parents thoughts because he said that in an interview. His mom heard that he had overdosed on drugs because it was reported. She panicked and sent his security guard to check on him in the trailer. Rob talked about it on one of the talk shows-Today Show I think. He eluded to being lonely in an interview and having his sis come to sleep on the couch and Tom on a cot.

Gollum: As far as her being mistreated by the fans. You are right that many hardcore Edward/Rob fans were mean to her. She was equally mean back and stoked the fires by calling them retards and pathetic. She went out of her way to not give autographs or complain while doing it. She was afraid perhaps of being attacked in crowds by a gang of girls but really, no serious stuff ever happened. She chose to be an actor and pr goes with the gig. She could be slinging burgers with her limited education instead of making 30 million a year. She only gets bothered when she is with Rob as the paps care about the money shot and him NOT her. For example, in Vancouver on his bday, he walked down the street stopping for autographs, they didn’t even ask for hers. If she can’t stand the heat, stay away from the fire=Rob.

He and Kristen have both tried to handle it that way, please no personal questions and they still get asked.When you see Rob with Kristen the first reaction is that they look good together but don’t match because he is genteel and she is a punk. Kristen can be seen with other guys (Garrett) and it is dismissed. Why? Is it a pr romance to cover for something? Nobody expects them to date in real life just because they play a couple so why the cover?

I agree, she keeps making these grandiose statements about Kristen and her attitude like she is the worse person in the world. There are many controversial stars. That sad fact that being in an emotionally abusive relation with a vampire where the woman has little say, speaks to faith-based women is very sad. The themes that Meyers wrote about in Twilight are just wrong on many levels: for people to gloss over pedophilia, stalking because the underlying message is one of love and abstinence, to calling out Kristen for what they think is bad behavior says a lot about them.

Her publicist asked for favours to get that rumour around. The studio let it float for couple of days to see the reactions, they weren’t in her favour.

The same thing did Blake Lively’s publicist when they planted stories about auditions, like for Great Gatsby, to make people believe she’s hot commodity. But most of the casting rumours were not true.
Jennifer Lawrence, Carey Mulligan and many others have better reputations, images and most of all talent. How can KS even compete with them? Besides she doesn’t want to do auditions.

Instead of saying “IMO, I think, I read, Robert said,” things that indicate an opinion based on information. She has said 80% of 350 million think like she does, claimed Kristen as the Antichrist, and wrote like she rubs Robert head every night while he tells her his hope, dreams, and problems.

I think she lack compassion yes, I was nice to her in another post, until I read how she responded to others and me. I used to be christian, even so the message is to be Christ-like. No, we’ve never had a falling out. I know that we don’t really share the same opinion when it comes to Kristen (and Rob), but you’ve always been super-respectful – even when others haven’t been. Like I said, I’m a fan of Kristen’s and tend to be at odds with the nonstens, but I could definitely appreciate the sense of community that they’ve created at their site. I’m not sure how you join, though. I think you have submit a request or something.

he basically said nothing – the “feeling” that people got was created by the author of the article and R’s PR handlers. remember, the words are not in order of when they were said, how they were said or even in the same context that he said them. also remember, IMO – VF did what R and his PR team wanted VF to do. they want to have more celeb interviews in their future. it really is not in their best interest to make any celeb or their PR people angry!!
he is absolutely to be held acccountable for that interview in conjunction with his handlers.

Another thing that really irritates me in the interview is the photographs…What is going on on Annie Leibovitz’s mind? Was she ill? God!!!

I don’t get what she was trying to achieve…But whatever it was, it didn’t work. Her work is often qualified as intimate portrays, she is usually able to present a connection where other photographers fail but this is just soulless…And the aesthetic is poor….

Yeah she talks about reminding him that Kristen was 17 and he was 21. I never saw the chemistry and I watched all three films with my cousin. I also know that Hardwicke has Red Riding Hood coming out, so she needs the PR.

Oh you should hear some of the former fan encounters, my cousin is one but still likes the movies. One girl said she got put out because she had on a Harry Potter shirt.
