Posted by Adam

Eric ClaptonERIC Clapton is obsessed with Ferraris!

“I love motor races since I was a child, but there’s only one car manufacturer I’ve been following ever since: Ferrari,” Clapton said.

“I love the sound of Ferraris and I, as a musician, can confirm that these engines deliver proper music. I have to say that my weak point is the 12-cylinders’ music.”

Eric Clapton’s got good taste. I wonder if he has a favorite Ferrari. Personally, I think the 308 GTS and the Testerossa are the best.

Daytona impressive….kinda partial to the bb512 and the newer Scagletta. But my heart belongs to Porsche….1977 Turbo Carrera gets my blood racing

Clapton is God. Ferrari’s are beautiful masterpieces soulfully created much like his music. Every chord struck is filled with life. The Ferrari’s are engineered the same way. Good taste Eric. BTW read your book 7 times. Awesome!!

Mr. Clapton and I go way back . . . at least musically speaking. LOL!!

In his book, Mr. Clapton provides several examples of why alcohol and automobiles, especially high powered ones, don’t mix. The tales are told tastefully, and with a good bit of humor, and thankfully, no one was ever hurt, least of all he, and certainly no innocents, so that the humor still applies.

All that said, Mr. Clapton recalls (to the degree one can recall such cloudy events) one such occasion when, three sheets to the wind, he jumps into one of his beloved Dinos and tears off down one of those lovely little roads in the English countryside at Warp Factor Eight, and promptly fails to negotiate a not too difficult turn when sober and not travelinfonly to wind up arse over teakettle, still strapped in, with his very long hair at the time, falling “down” to the ceiling. He decided to just sit there whilst waiting for delivery from his predicament, rather than trying to force his escape from his embarrassing situation.

As I recall, an elderly lady was the first to discover Mr. Clapton “by dawn’s early light,” hanging in bat-like splendor, literally by the seat of his pants, from his $100K (at that time) custom leather, 12-cylander mid-engine prison cell; and unless I am conflating information from two or more other alcohol infused accidents, this may have been one of those “rock bottom” events that enable an addict to make the life-changing decision to change the behavior that threatens their lives as well as those around them. So, if the Dino, has something to do with the fact that Mr. Clapton is still with us; and still as vital at 65 as he was nearly a half-century ago at 19.
