Yoko Ono Puts up a Fight! Yoko Ono Battles to Keep Her School Open!

Posted by Adam

Yoko OnoYOKO Ono is a fighter.

The widow of John Lennon is fighting to keep the Sure Start Center at Dovedale Infant School open.

Yoko — who, with Lennon, attended the school as a child — helped add an addition of the Center, which serves as a community gathering place for adults and children. She was on hand in 2010 when it opened.

According to the Liverpool Echo newspaper, cuts in government spending are threatening the program. Yoko threw her support behind the Center in an interview with the paper.

“I was very very happy to open the centre at Dovedale and to know how much it is loved and well used by the parents and the children. I strongly support the campaign to keep the center open,” she said.

In addition, Yoko Ono sent a warm message to those whom the center services.

“When I visited you, all of you gave me a big smile. I will never forget that day. We are family. I love you, Yoko.”

“Yoko — who, with Lennon, attended the school as a child”

    Are you sure about that?

    • Lauren

not to mention she was like 7 years older than John!

    • Jimmy

It jumped out at me too. Welcome to the world of online journalism.

Anyway . . . way to go, Yoko.

Why would a woman in Japan go to a school in Liverpool?

I fell sorry for you ppl who thinks Ono can sing cause they must be tone death, she’s got to be the worse artist(if you wanna call her that I wouldn’t) of all time’s.she’s a gold digger with no class, and some of you are right and saying why don’t she donate some of the millions John left her,I’ll tell you why(GREED) and most of high society wouln’t be caught near her.and to tell you the truth if john was still alive if would have dumped her long ago.

    • John

John loved Yoko, you could never begin to understand their connection. neither of them cared much for money in their later years together. Yoko still has John’s blood stained glasses from Dec 8th, 1980. She’s also a philanthropist for AIDs programs. (That means she gives a lot of money to them)

    • 8lackie

freddy, you silly little twat. Ono came from a banking family with no need for lennon’s $. As for Ono as an artist, it’s clear you are from the Kincaide/McKuen school of drek and understand nothing.

Yoko is a lady who has love and who helps. Who cares about the writer getting it wrong. She and John helped to add a wing. It is important to her to stand up and support the cause to keep it open. Maybe more of us should do the same even knowing someone will be waiting to criticize us when we do. Peace and Love to Yoko!

Yoko is a beautiful woman. She could not have picked a more handsome, talented and insightful man. Both are legends.

  • jen lavery

Ono did not attend this school. Talk about sloppy journalism.

  • terry Kocjan

Is Yoko Ono contributing more money to the school so it can survive? She sure has enough to keep the school open.

  • hopflower

When did John Lennon and Yoko Ono attend school together as children in Liverpool? Good lord.

  • http://yahoo liam sheridan

Yoko is one greedy witch Julian Lennon John’s first son with Cynthia was screwed by Yoko!!!!He received some money(after John’s death) however, no where near the amount he should have gotten. Why not share with Julian they would still have money left to burn and frankly, John owes it to Julian for all the years of much neglect I think Yoko is still jealous of John’s son…..I think she’s one mean old hag witch…

  • Beverly

Yoko did NOT attend school at all with John! Where on earth did that idea come from?!

do any of you people thinking yoko was some sort of gold digger recall that SHE was the wealthy one when they met?

    • Alimony Slim

Yoko came from a wealthy family but she was virtually penniless when she met John. Yoko was the wealthy one? Sorry, that’s just not true. John was incredibly wealthy when he met Yoko an of course that was part of the attraction. Maybe they did fall in love but initially Yoko was looking for a financial backer for her art projects.

“Yoko — who, with Lennon, attended the school as a child — helped add an addition of the Center….”
The writer of this article needs to be more specific, the COUPLE helped add on to the center, JOHN went to school there as a child. ….And that’s how rumors get started!! :-)

  • angel

John and Yoko went to school together as children??

The writer is probably 25 and doesn’t know crap about Lennon, Ono or the Beatles.

  • Otto

Yoko was brought up in Japan. Lennon was a Britisher.
Maybe their children attended taht school… but I doubt that millionaires sent their children there.
This article is just plain UNINFORMED!!!

i guess i’m here to defend yoko? (i never thought that would happen). there is a good chance john would have no money if it were’nt for yoko, while there is no doubt he was a great artist, he was a poor business man. john choose how much money to leave his son, not yoko. art is subjective, while i don’t care for yoko’s music, others such as john do and i respect that. they could, i suppose have gone to this school when they were young(er) but i doubt it!

  • eddie

Just as here in the U.S. taxpayer money has run out. If the school is needed and worthy perhaps private funds can be raised. But as with so many in today’s world they have trusted the government to be their babysitters and government is not a good babysitter. Just look at your world around you. If you want a better world go out and do something to make it for yourself. We all aren’t rock stars, that’s for sure!

  • Them Apples

My G*d hasnt this woman died yet? Either that or I had hoped some aliens had removed her from our presence and way off this planet.

  • Dee

Who’s stopping her from writing a check for this center?

  • cameron

yoko was the worst thing to ever happen to john lennon and the beatles. what a clown.

  • ISABELLA PLUMLEY

ARE THESE WRITERS ARE PAID REAL MONEY FOR THE UNINFORMD STOFF THEY ARE PUTTING OUT THERE??I WONT TO BE ONE!!I COULD JUST WRITE WHAT I WONTED TRUE ORE FALS.

  • Frances Lee

Yoko is not as she appears to be. This article makes no sense. John was never the same once she entered his life. She was the downfall of John Lennon.

  • Mims

OK since the “journalists” apparently don’t have to check their facts and/or make sense, I’ve decided I’m going to write an article that I am actually the lovechild of Little Richard and Nancy Reagan.

  • Stratone

That Pig is hoarding more of John’s money than the Government has to spend, She could keep the school open w/ one days intrest per year. She & her singign are insectacide (Beatle Killer).

  • Tammy Burris

I am sure they meant that they both attended the school. At the same time? Well of course not. I mean please. can we be anymore nit picky? The thing is– it’s a good thing for people to get behind. Let’s help keep this open today. Yoko is just trying to use her celebrity to draw attention to this. She is not making any money. Give it up people, it is a good cause, it’s a good thing, thank god for Yoko and John. Let’s keep it open!

  • Amanda Serratos

Yoko; YOU GO GIRL!!!! IN THE NAME OF YOU & JOHN. GOD BLESS YOU & JOHN & YOURS!!!!

  • Charles Watson

Since John loved Yoko and she brought him happiness I will support Yoko for what John meant to me – but I wish they would rewrite the story.

  • 8lackie

I love that you all know the relationship Ono had/has with everyone. It is doubtful Ono reads these comments nor gives a wit what you think of her.

  • dodge

Wow, some real journo’s here catching the subtle mistakes in this article. Way to go indignant trolls

  • JetBlack

Instead of cheering on Yoko’ efforts, some replies are not only blaming Yoko for the obvious typo, but using it as a convenient excuse to trash her. Get a life! Yoko didn’t break up the Beatles, the Beatles did. You don’t like her music? Then ignore it and stop complaining–noone has a gun to your head forcing you to listen to it. It’s like those middle-aged types Iwho write comments on You Tube who hated the Osmonds when they were 12 and STILL feel compelled to make insults against them. Yoko’s quietly donated money to the school–if you had her money, would you? Or would you just party till you dropped? Grow up!
