George Clooney Has Quiet 50th Birthday Bash

Posted by Adam

GEORGE Clooney didn’t make a big deal about his 50th birthday.

The actor — who celebrated the milestone on Friday — shared a birthday-eve dinner with his girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis,at Beverly Hills restaurant Mr Chow.

According to New York Post gossip column Page Six, Clooney dined with restaurateur Michael Chow and wife Eva and was congratulated by other celebs in the packed restaurant, including Kirstie Alley, Kelly Preston, Jackie Collins, Kathy Griffin, Ray Romano and society ladies Nikki Haskell and Barbara Davis.

Previous reports claimed George told his friends not to bother sending him birthday gifts.

“George either has a huge practical joke planned on everyone or he really is have a crisis about turning 50,” said a source close to the actor.

“He’s told everyone he doesn’t want to do anything or for them to send gifts. He’s intent on spending it alone because he says he’s too old for birthdays.”

The birthday dinner didn’t happen. George’s publicity contract with skanknalis ended in December, when she was allowed to do her last photo op with him. The birthday dinner didn’t happen, same as the “surprise” birthday party was bogus and denied by George himself. Regarding the Mr. Chow’s fictional dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Chow claim to have joined George for his birthday dinner along with the handful of C- and D-listers:
“Clooney, who turned 50 yesterday, dined with restaurateur Michael Chow and wife Eva”

It was just another restaurant seeking free advertising by using George’s name, as many other restaurants have done. It was a publicity ploy for Mr. Chow’s, a publicity ploy for the C- and D-listers, and possibly free dinners at Mr. Chow’s for a year for all the twits involved. Nothing says intimate birthday celebration like going out the night before your actual birthday to a paparazzi-hounded restaurant with mediocre food and eating with people you barely know or have never met and a famewhore past publicity contract escort, and somehow managing to do all of this without getting papped or otherwise photographed. Also, I think that a lot of C- and D-listers and/or their publicists search Twitter for tweets about wherever they happen to be or think maybe an A-lister could possibly be, and when such a search turns up an A-lister allegedly at such a location, they then post a tweet using the A-lister’s name because people searching for that A-lister’s name will then happen upon C-lister’s tweet, giving C-lister publicity by association.

Silverscreen is right. George Clooney was not at Mr. Chow’s on his birthay, May 6th. However, he was there having dinner on Thursday, May 5th. And Kirstie Alley along with Kelly Preston, where also there. So was Jackie Collins and Barbara Davis but all were having dinner at different tables except for Kirstie and Kelly. How do I know this? Because I was there celebrating my 50th on May 5th. I didn’t spot Kathie Griffin or Ray Romano but perhaps they arrived after we left around 9:30pm. And the paparazzi were definitely waiting for them all to emerge.

He wasn’t there, Wendy. It’s impossible to enter or leave Mr. Chow’s without being photographed, as there are paparazzi at both exits. The food there is mediocre, and the only reason for celebs to go there at all is to be papped, which is why it’s a favorite of C- and D-listers who want the free publicity. George wasn’t there on Thursday or Friday.

@ SILVERSCREEN : YOU ARE SO WRONG!!!

I was actually dining at Mr Chow that evening with a date. I did see George Clooney, his girlfriend, and Mr and Mrs Chow dining. I’m telling you this restaurant was full of celebs even if you call them C or D listers. A lot of his friends went over to his table to say hi, I don’t think they actually knew it was his birthday. Anyways, they tried to come and leave low key but seemed like the paparazzi wanted a picture bad… I don’t think they got one because they left from the back. Yes, I did pay attention to that table the whole night.. George Clooney is actually one of my favorite actors and he is very handsome in person! In short, Silverscreen… you should get all your facts before you are so quick to criticize because you never know who reads this. Did you even step into Mr Chow? It’s actually a great place in LA, been around since 1974.

here is Kirstie Allye’s tweet that evening “Kirstie was totally starstruck at the restaurant among the celeb crowd, especially George. She wrote upon leaving Mr. Chow’s: “Oh yeah u are right… I was at Mr. Chows… Best food forever in LA… Happy birthday George Clooney… Great to see u.. Better to hug u”
