ACTOR Josh Hartnett has missed out on playing Superman because he didn’t feel man enough when the role was offered to him.

The Black Hawk Down star has admitted he was approached to play the Man of Steal years ago but turned the offer down to concentrate on smaller projects in order to hone his acting skills.

“I’ve been offered a lot of things that I’ve decided not to do,” says Josh, 33. “You know, I was growing up when Superman came along.

“I was 21 when I shot Pearl Harbor, and I had a lot of opportunities but I more wanted to figure out who I was as a man first, to figure out where I really wanted to go with my life. I wanted to grow up a bit more and figure out what mattered to me. So I did a lot of stuff, but I did things that were really interesting to me and my development.”
