HILARY Swank‘s career is in tatters.
The actress has been dumped by her PR team at 42West, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly, following the backlash after she attended a birthday party for Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov last month.
Swank, 37, and her publicists reportedly had a falling out over discussions on how best to deal with the outcome from the controversial Oct. 5 event thrown for Kadyrov, who has been deemed one of the world’s most notorious human rights violators responsible for orchestrating a number of abductions, tortures and deaths of Chechen insurgents.
Last week, Swank fired her manager of eight years, as well as two of his associates at CAA, as part of the aftermath from the embarrassing blunder.
The Oscar-winner issued a public apology for attending the event and promised to donate her appearance fee to charity.
“I deeply regret attending this event, which has thrown into question my long and deeply-held commitment to the protection of human rights,” Swank said in a statement.
“I would never intentionally do anything that raised doubts about such commitment,” she continued. “I will continue to donate my time and my financial resources not only to the charities with which I am currently affiliated, but also those dedicated to the preservation of human rights. If I had a full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be, I would never have gone.”
