TOM Cruise has lawyered up.

The actor — whose wife Katie Holmes recently filed for divorce after five years of marriage — has hired famed divorce lawyer Dennis Wasser to represent him in his split from the former Dawson’s Creek star.

Wasser is the same attorney Cruise used in his bitter divorce from Nicole Kidman a decade ago.

“I would hope that it’s not a contentious matter,” Cruise’s longtime litigator, Bert Fields, told the LA Times. “I know Tom is not a particularly contentious person.”

Katie filed for divorce on Thursday in New York and is represented by New Jersey-based attorney Jonathan Wolfe.

Tom is planning to file in California and attempt to get the proceedings moved there.

On Sunday, Tom was spotted on the set of his upcoming sci-fi flick, Oblivion, two hours north of Iceland’s capitol Reykjavik.
