Ann Curry: ‘Free me, NBC!’

Monday, December 31, 2012

ANN Curry is desperate to be released from her NBC contract so she can go and work at CNN.

The former TODAY co-host wants join her old boss Jeff Zucker at the pioneer 24 hour news network.

Zucker is taking over in February 2013.

“Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network,” a source said.

“However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years.

“Ann’s lawyer feels that there is a very strong case to be made that NBC has breached terms of the deal because Curry was demoted from TODAY. Furthermore, Ann has basically been sequestered from appearing on the network. Yes, she has been doing some work that has been assigned to her, but it hasn’t been steady.

“As long as Ann remains at NBC, it will be a constant reminder to everyone of how badly the situation was handled. It would be so much better for NBC, Ann, and CNN if she was let out of her contract. It would be a new beginning and a chance for all parties involved to move on, once and for all.”

NBC you have slumped to the bilge from the high of where you were. That is why you lose your great talent. You would rather hire the Ilreverent Al Sharpton then holding together the teams you once had. I guess you are planting seed to move your organization to a socialist country where fair and ballanced news is not required. Anyone who works for your company will run like the wind to escape working for you.

I watched the Today Show religiously since 1992. When they let Ann go, I let them go. I switched to GMA and told everyone I know that they should do the same. I can’t believe I ever adored the “Today Show family.” They weren’t a family at all. NBC should be ashamed of the manner in which they treated Ann, a talented journalist and co-anchor with just the perfect and unique combination of heart, wit, knowledge, generosity of spirit and professionalism. I miss her and can’t wait until I get to tune in to her regularly again. Go get her CNN.
