Carrie Fisher Checks Into Hospital

CARRIE Fisher was forced to check into hospital for treatment of her bipolar disorder after a bizarre performance on a cruise ship.

The actress slurred through snippets of songs, and even leaned down midway during her performance to clean up after her dog after it defecated and urinated on stage.

Guests were horrified with Fisher’s actions, believing she was drunk at the time, but a representative told the New York Daily News that her behavior was related to mental illness.

“There was a medical incident related to Carrie Fisher’s bipolar disorder,” Fisher’s rep said.

“She went to the hospital briefly to adjust her medication and is feeling much better now.”

Fisher has openly discussed her struggle with bipolar disorder in the past, as well as her past difficulties with drugs and alcohol.

Fisher revealed that she receives electroshock therapy for manic depression every six weeks.

“It feels like my brain gets moored down in cement, and [electroshock] kind of blows that apart,” Fisher said. “You can move on from whatever feelings you cannot resolve through therapy and medications.”
