Kate Middleton and Prince William: What Will They Name Their Baby?

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Kate Middleton KATE Middleton and Prince William have just under a month until the expected birth of their first-born, leaving little time to decide on a name and apparently there’s a new favourite in town! A new choice emerged in the bookies on June 18th, pushing Charlotte into second place at 4/1, behind Alexandra.

The new fav, which is currently 5/2, would pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth’s cousin and consent of Edward VII.

Meanwhile, Charlotte would a clever bet as it holds relevance to both the royal family and the Middleton’s as it is the middle name of Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton and potential godmother.

Although William and Kate haven’t confirmed what they are expecting, the betting has been focused on names fit for a princess since reports that Kate apparently hinted that it was a girl.

Other names that have featured heavily in the guessing game are Diana, Elizabeth, Victoria and Mary. For a boy, Philip, James, Charles and George have been hotly tipped.

In April, on a visit to a homeless shelter, the mother-to-be told well-wishers that they “have a shortlist for both”.

“It’s very difficult – my friends keep texting me names”

Whatever the nation’s favourite couple decide to name their bundle of joy, it’s sure to be another Royal summer to remember.
