GERARD Butler says he’s “proud” to be Scottish after the rescue effort following the tragic helicopter crash in his hometown of Glasgow.
Nine were killed and 32 injured on Friday night when a police helicopter crashed into the pub Clutha, which was packed with about 120 people listening to live music. Rescuers went into the unstable building for those trapped in the rubble.
Butler’s mother, Margaret, lives in Glasgow.
“I was talking to my mum about it today,” he said.
“It was heartbreaking, anything from my home city touches me . . .
“I hate hearing about the tragedy, but at the same time it makes me proud to be Scottish and especially to be from Glasgow, because, my mother was saying how proud she was of all the people who had gone back in (the roof had just collapsed) to help people out.”
