JK Rowling considers 8th Harry Potter book

Harry Potter author JK Rowling’s seventh Harry Potter book might not be the last we read of the young wizard, and his friends – Rowling said that she’s planning another installment in the fantasy franchise.

The seventh book, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows hits bookstores on July 21st, and while JK Rowling has always insisted it would be the last chapter of the phenomenally successful series – she is now considering an eighth book.

She says, “I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopedia of the world so I could use all the extra material that’s not in the books.”

hey, i think jkr should TOTALLY make a new series! i allrdy know who the star should b and his name should b peter white. and instead of hermione there can be an athena (after the goddess of wisdom) and u can use the guy who played ronald’s name = rupert. and the first book should b called Peter White and the Blood Connection and it should b all about Peter and how his dad kills him mom (his dad should b called Kraglin instead of William just like Voldemort instead of Tom). and then peter goes to live with his loving aunt and uncle who swear to protect him and not let anything that happened to his mother happen to him (they protect him by saying that his mother was sufferring a major heart attack when she died) and then there should b something about a ‘blood connection’ between him and his dad that puts him in danger cuz his dad is as evil (if not more) than voldemort and has his own gang of followers called Blood Gatherers instead of Death Eaters. it i could EVER find out how to reach jkr i’d send her the first chapter for her to start the series!

To me, an eighth book will continue Harry Potter’s story, not an encyclopedia, oh, man, and I got all excited. But I guess an encyclopedia is a good idea.

I will not see the fifth movie or read the last few books until I find out if JKR kills off Harry .

If she does or has, I will not finish the series and will throw the movies I have, away.

In this ever changing world with all the sadness in it -why can’t this story have a good ending for the fictional charactor we all love? He has so much to live for and AS FAR AS jkr NOT WANTING ANYONE ELSE TO make unauthorised stories of Harry Potter , that may happen anyway no matter what,so why be cruel to her young readers and kill off the hero? she dose not have to kill ANY one off -just the villian ..

why not let Harry live and go off happy, he has suffered enough!!!

What happens to the next generation of Potter’s and Weasley’s at Hogwarts? Where does the Adult Harry Potter work? Is Hermione a working mother?
Where does Ron work? Who is the head of Hogwarts?

Will Albus Servius and Ted (Tonks and Lupins) son be friends. Will Albus Severius accept Sytherin as his home?

How will they nurture the next generation in the use of magic for good or evil? What will be the next big challenge for the Wizarding world?

Will one of the next generation find the Resurrection Stone? Who might steal the Wizard’s Wand?

Not an eight book but another series, perhaps?

I really hope she writes more books. Although another one exactly the same as the other seven will be overkill. She ended the 7th so nicely. Perhaps another series that takes place in the same world. Oh and my personal opinion—-I would like to McGonnagal as Headmistress.

I’ve been reading Harry potter since the 6th grade and this is the summer before I go to college and I’m still a huge fan… I think you should continue the story… Harry is an adult and married to ginny ( I Love it)! i really love all of yolur books and i finished the last book in 2 days and after i did not what to do it was like mising a part of me and i am not the kinda of person that likes to read but after reading your book i could not stop and i know that you have a life with kids and fam. but if you ever did write another book that would be the best thing ever. Trust me when i say it change a whole lot for me cuz i liked the books so much but we did not have much money but some how my fam. always found away to get me the book and i want to thank you so much for giving me and the billions of others that read your books for giving us a little magic of our own.

If there is a harry potter 8 that would be cool. she need to go threw the years right after harry’s 7th year. She just left us hanging there not knowing wat happened to him and all his friends.

I would love if she made another book. She could start a whole new series…almost an sequal series if you will. I personally would love to know the adventures of all of their children in hogwarts and the wizarding world. I also would like to know what they were like as adults. It would be very interesting to see so I hope that she would consider it.

I think eveybody has differet oppinions on this. But i think hardly anyone likes he idea of the next book bein an encyclopedia. I think you should have them goin back in time or somethin to change something that needs chagin. You could have ginny in an accident n he wants to stop it from happenin but because he’s medled with time he some how brings back voldermort. I no you’ve probleys had enough of writing the books now but think of all the readers, you could make a lot of people happy just by writting another story. plz plz write another book.(by the way ill let u use y idea) =] =p thanks for the 7 books that you wrote though i loved them

I used to think that an encyclopedia would be kind of neat, for answering all those questions about the wizarding world that she never really answers in the books, until JK starts explaining every aspect of her character’s lives in her interview. Although it would be cool to have Harry and co. (and possibly a Slytherin Albus Potter) in action… maybe we should be glad she stopped when she did.

I think that making an 8th Harry Potter book would ruin the series. Don’t get me wrong i love Harry Potter, i just think that she came to a good ending point in the story already. I also don’t like the idea of making a book about the children, that would ruin the whole idea of “Harry Potter”. Also voldemort already died, he can’t come back, and introducing a new vilan would be a bad idea. I would really love a new series with a different topic all together. Please make a new book!!

i think she should bring out another book, not an encyclopedia.
although anything would be good, i just don’t think it’ll be as fantastic as her other stuff. i’ve read all 7 books millions of times but i dont think an encyclopedia is exciting enough :/ so i’d vote for another book. that would make me happy :D to be honest, i think she should keep writing stuff about him, nearly everybody loves her stuff and personally i would be really sad to see it end. i was even sad when the 7th ended cuz then it was all over, it had completely finished. but y’know, i hope she writes an actual book, then life would be fab :)

I personall think that JKR should write another Harry Potter book so kids wont get bored and complain that there are no more Harry Potter books and there will not be any more movies after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I also personally would like to meet JKR for my self in real life and I would like to Ask her a few questions i am going to type up. J.K. Rowling should definately write another book. or another series with the second generation (Harry&Genny’s kids). Voldemort can’t just die its to easy. He is the greatest Wizard in the world (BESIDES DUMBLEDORE). maybe he has more horcruxes that are too protected for even Harry to get to. If you like to write and you are getting tons of money for it why not just do it.They ARE THE BEST books in the world. Its ok if Harrys not the main character just include him in there

okay, first of thing, i would love to see an eight book of harry potter, its my dream, i even created a group on facebook for this topic, but now, an the encyclopedia thing isnt that good like a real story, j.k said in lots of interviews about how she is thinking and is still deciding in doing harry potter 8, she didnt mension anything about an encyclopedia, writing an encyclopedia is a 1% probibility, but writing a real story which she said she woud hopefully would is 99%, i think that she should write a story, pls, not an encyclopedia which i think it has a low probibility in doing it

I think that if jk Rowling writes harry potter 8,it should be about his son, but his son becomes evil like lord voldemort. And Harry has to fight his son and harry’s son kills Ron, but Harry doesn’t want to kill his son and Draco Malfoy comes on the good side and fights his son. And then Harry finds out that his son Albus his voldemorts heir to kill harry. That’s what should happen if jk writes harry potter 8

Since i read the first hp book i have done non-stop reading, i have read harry potter books over and over again. JK Rowling has inspired me to write books at an early age and one day i hope to be the greatest author in the world just like jk.

We all want to read another book, but she needs to rest and get some ideas before she even thinks of writing another boo. I’m still totally mad about Harry but I have some common sense. Any way I think an 8th book (if there is one) should be about the next generation of young wizards and witches in Hogwarts, but definetly not about Albus in Slytherin or going evil. And I think the villans should be the followers of Lord Voldemort or their kids, but not Draco or Scorpius Malfoy because they should turn good. And maybe something about a friend of Albus who is grown by Muggles, but turns up to be a grand-daughter od Tom Riddle, the father of Voldemort. They might send her on a mission to join the Death Eaters and at the final battle she might look like she turned evil. But in the end it turns out that she was acting and she tells the Death Eaters that she couldn’t have been evil because she understood the power of love. Futhermore, she could end up with Albus and have children and have a job as the Charms teacher at Hogwarts. I also tought of making her the inventor of a Defence Against the Dark Arts branch, called Charm Defence and it would study how to know what type of spell your attaker will use by the wand movement and what to do to defend yourself. I really tought this through, didn’t I? But as I was saying it will be a long time till J.K. gets the inspiration for another book (and I’m still hopeful), but in the meantime an encyclopedi would be great!

I really think she should right another book, but maybe not an 8th book because Harry has pretty much done what he needs to do. Maybe a short series about what happens to his kids at Hogwarts. It wouldn’t really be a Harry Potter book either if it’s about his kids. The series is pretty much over for Harry, there can’t really be another book about just HIM. I also think the 7th book ended to quickly; Voldemort’s dead, Harry marries Ginny, they have kids, the end. She should make a book about what happens after Harry kills Voldemort because it really left me hanging at the end. I really want to know what happened to Harry and Ginny, and Ron and Hermione in between the end of the book and the epilogue.

i think JKR should write an 8th book. not on harry’s kids but on what happens after killing voldemort because i really want to know what job harry has, what happens at his wedding and just generally what happens during those 19 years before arriving at platform 9 and 3 quaters with their kids.

I don’t think she should right about the kids because that would ruin the whole idea of “HARRY POTTER” duh. what’s it gunna be harrypotter’s kids? anyways i agree that she should write the eigth one about the transition after their seventh year like the relationships n stuff. you cannot stop writing jkr! im so seriously in luv with harry i mean i have already read the series three times in the past 2 months. Hm, I am an avid reader of the HP series and I would definilely LOVE another book in the series! That would just be awesome, but, I think Rowling needs a break too and write ‘other’ novels …. I really want to see her do something way different but just as amazing as HP …. she’s a very good author so I think she’ll do a really good job at it!

if she does make an 8th book … she sould start it off from when harry and ginny and all the others get married… like a continuting one… but about their kids from when they start school.. like a whole new kind of harry potter with new kinds of problems and stuff but with harry’s kids as the main character.. if u know wat i mean.. :P I HOPE SHE DOES MAKE AN EIGHT STORY BOOK!!! *crosses fingers like no tomorrow* :P XD

I would really enjoy a new series based on Harry Potter and Friends adult life or the life of their children. That would be awsome, but if and encyclopedia is what JKR wants to do, then thats fine too. After all, it is her series.

that really sucks. the 8th book should be another adventure. mabey about harry doing his work as an auror. or mabey about one of his kids following in his footsteps. an encyclopedia just wouldn’t be as fun to read. plus, you can’t make a movie out of an encyclopedia!!

Love harry potter but i think she should make a book bout his kids at hogwarts cuz in the last 6 books she pulled away from the magic of hogwarts and pulled towards him killin voldemort id like to see the house cup competition between the houses and just all the magic u feel in the first two books i dunno my thoughts but i lov harry potter id love to see any books in that world

I really liked the actors of the HP series. I would hate to see them dissappear like Harry’s Uncle and Aunt in the movies when the story goes on to telling about Harry’s life at Hogwarts. It shouldn’t be about her kids because Harry, Ron and Hermione would have to be around 30 years old. It should be about the main characters in the books, that way if they ever decided to make a movie out of it they wouldn’t have to use entirely different actors. I also think it should be based more on Hermione and Ron’s perspective, not Harry’s. He is one of my favorate characters but the others should have the spotlight. In all the Harry Potter movies I didn’t see Ron and Hermione as much as I would have liked. They were “Brilliant”, as the actors would say, and I missed them in the franchise whenever they were not in the shot. Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe worked wonderfully together and I would hate to see them leave eachother on the seventh movie and hear the last of them on the seventh book. Thankyou J.K. Rowling for the wonderful, amazing, brilliant series.

I am only 9 years old, but I agree that you are the BEST AUTHOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! I read the whole series over the summer when I was 7. They are GREAT! It is because of YOUR books, J.K Rowling, that I love to read. No matter how many times I read them(which is 3 times)it feels new, with the same excitment as the 1st time I read them. I totally LOVE your series! I have 3 siblings- Alexandra my twin, Isabella my younger sister by about 3 yrs, and my baby brother Tristen. Please do another book or series. They are extremely funny, magical, adventurous, and the best ever! They are the best ever. I really love books, but I love yours the most. Please do some more? My parents will buy it for me and my siblings to read, and they’d be a huge hit!
Maybe you could do one about Harry’s and Ginny’s and Ron’s and Hermione’s kids. The way you ended it…it sounds like you would make a new one. Please do! The kids could meet Scorpius. That is Draco Malfoy’s son, right? Yeah! It could be like Harry and his friends meeting Malfoy all over agian! I don’t really think you should just start a new series, J.K.Rowling. Start off from the epilogue, like Channie-whoever that is- said. I am totally hoping that you decide to make another book. I really think that you should start it off from where the kids go to school. I don’t care that whoever thinks you already have it all made up-maybe JKR doesn’t, and maybe she does. Watch the beginning of the 6th movie! He sprays this mouth spray in his mouth for this totally different girl! She is not even mentioned in the series! I mean, no offense to the girl. I just love the books better. I love most adventure books. I am okay with mysteries, but adventure really gets to me. Rowling does need a break, but I hope it is not for 10 yrs! I mean, that is a long time for us kids to wait for Rowlings’s awesome books!

P.S. Maybe Rowling could please make another bad guy in the new series? Like Voldemort’s 2nd biggest fan? Bellatrix Lestrange died by Molly Weasley. Lestrange is evil! Pure evil! Killing Harry’s godfather, Sirius! And he is her cousin. Killing Fred…at least Percy stops turning a blind eye to his family! I love Harry Potter books!

P.S.S. I hope JK doesn’t mind, but my friend Sarah and I are doing these interview things. Here is a true example. I did Rita Skeeter interviewing the goblins at Gringrotts because of the break in. Sarah did one with Hermione interviwing Voldemort. It was mighty funny. We make them funny on purpose. It is… fun to read. Now we might work together on it. She will be Hermione; I will be Ginny. That is because Hermione and Rita Skeeter hate each other. It would be..uh…odd for them to fight during the interview.

I agree with my twin Chloe. Please ignore the comment I posted above this one. J.K. Rowling, you need one more book to complete the set. We know we will beg you for more if you write another one. You have to write another book, your biggest fans (Chloe and I) need you to write another one. We already read them all in 2 grade when we were 7! My twin has read them 3 times and I 2 times but only because I needed to read other ones too. You need a rest I know. But don’t wait a whole decade! or 10, 9, 8 , 7, 6, 5, yrs.!not even 4 or 3! (2 would almost be ok, but who wants to wait that long?) 1 would be nice though. When I read your words it brought me into the book(not litterally). I thrive when I read your books and I’d get at your feet and beg you to write another book , but I can’t. Even through all my homework I would find a way to read your thrilling books. I could stay up late under my covers and read it. We’re asking you to write another book ,or i am, within (less than) a decade. If you wait that long i will be staying up under my covers ,not reading your books but doing homework. I love my family and i love your extrodinary books. What’s more you did them all by your self, independentally. You cannot leave us stranded scrathing our heads and puzzled of what happens next. My twin and our friend are even making up articles themselves they’re such big fans! They are funny and about The Magical World. Chloe can even write like Rita Skeeter though she is usually Ginny. Sometimes I go to our enormous bookshelf and look for something new to read, but there’s nothing there. Your next book could be about Harry + Ginny Ron + Hermione’s kids goin to hogwarts! Thay meet Scorpius and he could be like the dude Draco Malfoy or like Severus Snape not mean…but not all nice. He makes friends with Lily! But J.K….from the way you ended your 7th book i knew it was a lucky number in Wizarding World…but i was sure u would write another book. It’s up to you but…your fans thrive when reading your books. We need an 8th! Me + your fans ache for your books! I love mysteries that are adventures and Harry Potter is just the sort of book that has it. I loved the Tales Of Beetle The Bard! And how u did thanks to Hermione Granger for whats the word? Decoding it? Anyway at St. Martins Episcopal your books r popular now! I love JK’s story of Harry. But Harry deserves rest. I think She should write a less gory and dangerouse version, on Harry’s and Ron’s and Hermione’s and Ginny’s Kids at Hogwarts! If you want something almost as good as Harry Potter, Go and read Melindaleo’s “Seventh Horcrux” . Fanmade prediction but really good all the same! Ending is brilliant as she could write an eighth book if she wanted. epilogue is a bit crap though. Its online.
