Amusing. The building was used for study programs based upon L Ron Hubbard’s study breakthroughs. (More info at http://www.appliedscholastics.org) How a rather small facility became “one of the headquarters” is typical gossip-speak. Church of Scientology International’s offices are in its own 12 story building, picture at:

Many buildings in Los Angeles, including the Pacific Complex which takes up more than 2 city blocks. A photo of part of it is at:

Actually the church has been loosing property regularly for several years.
Establish a satellite branch and milk the local residents for all that they can, then stop paying the bills until evicted.
This is a pretty standard operating procedure for the church. The smaller communities are less tolerable of the cult than your larger cities.
I was with the church for 8 years and was there for the opening and abandonment of 13 churches. We would suck as much money out of the community as possible and close up shop and move to the next town.

Scientology abandoned that building because it had so many evil Body Thetans that even L Ron Hubbard’s e-meters and OT technology could not clear the place out.

And since you can’t sue, slander, intimidate or stalk a Body Thetan, $cientology had to write the place off.

Sounds pretty fishy to me. I wonder what property he’s talking about, because from what I’ve seen the Church of Scientology is buying new property, not selling what they have. But one thing is sure and that’s that Hollywood is exploding with new buildings, new clubs, new stores and new restaurants. Its in better shape now that anytime in the past 40 years or more and that’s great!
