J.K. Rowling has confirmed that she is to write a new crime novel, according to reports, suggesting she has stood by her word about ending her Harry Potter fixation.

The Scottish writer has been seen in the last few days “scribbling away” in an Edinburgh cafe, as she did more than ten years previously when she started her Harry Potter novels. The difference is now, that Rowling is not a cash stripped single mother; quite the opposite actually.

However, the multi-millionaire writer has refused to reveal any of the plot, but she still said on her website: I want to write something completely different. “I can take my time. And the idea of just wandering off to a café with a notebook and writing and seeing where it takes me for a while is just bliss.”

She added: “I’ll do what I did with ‘Harry Potter’ – I will write what I really want to write.”

The magical tales of Harry and his Hogwarts pals have made Rowling one of the highest earning writers of all time, and one of the richest women in the world with an estimated fortune of £576 million, according to Forbes magazine’s annual rich list.

The author has vowed that she will still write another Harry Potter book, but will not have anything to do with the series, as the ‘Harry Potter Encyclopedia’ plans will be put into action next year. According to sources, Rowling will write the encyclopedia to tie up loose ends which were not important enough to make the final book.
