Things seem to go from bad-t0 worse for Britney Spears – as on Friday the ‘Gimme More’ singer was charged with one count of hit and run causing property damage followed by one count of driving without a valid California driver’s license, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office. Each misdemeanor charge carries a maximum sentence of 6 months in jail.

Us Magazine reportedly asked the city’s attorney spokesman, Frank Mateljan in what state Spears might have a valid driver’s license, he replied: “Not in California.” – and refused to confirm whether Britney even has a valid driver’s license in her home state of Louisiana. “According to DMV records in California, no license has ever been issued to her,” he added.

Spears is reportedly scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on October 10th.

Us Magazine also reports that on the same Friday afternoon, Britney Spears was spotted fighting back tears as she entered the L.A. building housing the offices of her new attorney, Sorrell Trope.

This sees the end to a pretty crappy week for Britney, she lost both her Lawyer, and her manager in the same week!  – and has been heavily criticized for her “appalling” performance at this year’s MTV VMAs.

Poor Britney.
