Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney, who celebrated his 22nd birthday this weekend, reportedly took to the stage at his party & “murdered” a string of classic hits.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the British soccer star took the microphone from a professional singer at a posh restaurant and launched into his own R&B rendition of Wilson Pickett’s classic hit ‘Mustang Sally’.
Then, according to reports, Wayne serenaded his guests with ‘Hey Jude’ by The Beatles and ‘I Got You Babe’ by UB40.
A source at the party told The Sun newspaper: “He was absolutely murdering some classic tunes.
“There was quite a gathering of people outside listening to him singing . . . and it wasn’t great.”
Rooney, who helped his team beat rival team Middlesbrough to a 4-1 victory had use of a private room called The Boudoir, complete with a butler, to treat 14 mates to the $70 ahead dinner.
Instead of opting for the usual posh menu of sautéed scallops with cucumber spaghetti, or roast ostrich fillet with yam purée, Wayne ordered chefs to make his guests a selection of chicken and chips, steak and chips or fish and chips.
And, according to The Sun, Roo hired a professional singer to entertain the party which included his fiancée Coleen McLoughlin, who was sporting a 70s hairdo.
For starters, the party goers munched their way through tomato soup or duck spring rolls and for dessert, either cheese or sticky toffee pudding.
A source said: “Lounge 10 is top-notch but he wanted a different set menu to the ones on offer.
“It was a bit like a kids’ birthday spread.”
