Kylie Minogue honored with Music Industry Trust award

Kylie Minogue Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue was the first woman to be honored with the prestigious Music Industry Trust’s award on Monday.

According to reports, the ‘Spinning Around’ hit maker was presented with the honour in recognition of her 20-year career and was hailed as ‘an icon of pop and style’,

Kylie follows in the footsteps of music legends Sir George Martin and Sir Elton John in receiving the prize.

At the ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor House Hote, Kylie was also described as a star who has continued to ‘reinvent, experiment and inspire’.

Kylie said: ‘It is an incredible honor to be the recipient of this year’s Music Industry Trust’s award and I am truly thrilled to be recognized in this way.’

Kylie’s first hit was in 1988 with ‘I Should Be So Lucky’. and has since shifted a whopping 40million albums worldwide and holds the record for being the most-played female artist on British radio.

David Munns, chairman of the award committee, said: ‘She deserves this award for her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity.’

Kylie’s parents flew in for the event, and proud (younger sister) Dannii told the audience: “The whole nation loves her. She’s achieved so much and there’s more to come.”
