American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson has offered some advice to British ‘X Factor’ winner Leona Lewis on how to deal with Simon Cowell.
Clarkson, who won American Idol in 2002 & has since gone on to sell 16 million albums worldwide advised Leona that she should lay down the law with her boss (Simon Cowell) if she is going to make the music she wants.
Kelly, who will be touring Britain in March, said: “If I’ve one bit of advice for her it would be that, no matter where you have come from, you must stick to your guns.
“I have had to fight for certain things and you always will in this industry.”
Meanwhile, Leona has revealed how she was taunted for being mixed, she said: ‘I was the only one at stage school who wasn’t white’, she explains. ‘Some kids would come up to me and say “Oh, you’re mixed-race”, making it a big deal when it wasn’t.
‘I later went to a school where the majority of the kids were black and because I used to wear my hair out, I’d get teased for not wearing it in braids and for being different there too.’
