Jonathan Rhys Meyers told a US TV music show he had to learn to sing and play guitar for his latest movie.
The Irish-born actor appeared as a guest on MTV’s TRL with his August Rush co-star, Kerri Russell.
The 30-year-old actor also spoke of his enjoyment at singing in his latest project, and didn’t rule out a stab at being a pop star.
When asked if he wanted to release an album, Rhys Meyers said: “I won’t say yes and I won’t say no, in case I do come out with something. But I enjoyed singing.”
August Rush is a fairytale drama about a young orpahaned musical prodigy who uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents.
Following the theme of the movie, TRL invited three street performers for Rhys Meyers and Russell to choose their favourite.
The stars chose to sit on the fence, and told the eager performers they were all stars and they couldn’t pick between them.
Rhys Meyers on-off relationship with Renna Hammer appears to be back on again.
The pair were spotted together at the premiere of August Rush in New York on November 11.
