Rachel Weisz is bored of serious movie roles

Rachel WeiszRachel Weisz has revealed she got bored of serious movie roles after she became a mum for the first time.

The London-born actress said she suddenly became interested in comedies when she gave birth.

She said: “I think something really funny happened to me when I had my baby.

“I had my first child, and I’d been doing lots of very serious, dramatic roles.

“I’d been dying a lot in these films; there was lots of blood.

“And I suddenly thought, ‘I really want to be in a comedy’.”

Oscar-winner Weisz, who stars alongside funnyman Vince Vaughn in upcoming

Christmas comedy Fred Claus, said she jumped at the role.

The Constant Gardener star sadded: “So I got offered this role opposite Vince

Vaughn, who I think is one of the funnier men on the planet, so it was fun.

“He’s just very smart and fast and hyper, and a very overactive imagination. It was like sparring with a real comedy genius.  I just about kept up with him.”

The actress appeared on US television’s The Martha Stewart Show – and helped the domestic goddess cook an apple pie.

She asked: “Is it terrible to buy store-bought crust?”

To audience laughter, Stewart replied: “Yes, you’re going to make your own.”

Weisz, 36, and fianc? Darren Aronofsky, 38, became parents for the first time when she gave birth to son Henry Chance in May 2006.

Fred Claus is out in the US now and hits cinemas in the UK on November 30.
