Maria Sharapova finds herself a new doubles partner in a new TV advert

Tennis star Maria Sharapova has found herself a new doubles partner in a new ad shown on US TV.
The 20-year-old Russian can be seen in an advert for Canon’s latest PowerShot digital camera, chasing her dog Dolce around – trying to take his picture. She speaks to the Pomeranian breed telling him to roll over, but he cheekily answers back in English in an Italian accent and ignores his owner.
The commercial then ends with Dolce admiring a wall of dog photos in Sharopova’s home that she has taken of him.
The dog is in fact an actor named Beowulf and not Sharopova’s actual pooch, who is called Dolce.
“We wanted to get beyond Maria, the tennis player, to Maria, the person, and one of the things Maria loves most is her dog,” says Mike
Wilson, the chief creative officer of Dentsu America, the ad agency responsible for the commercial.
Sharapova does admit that she loves taking “tons of photos” of the real Dolce, but she doesn’t take him to tournaments with her.
