Hollywood stars on red-alert as wildfires rage through Malibu

California WildfiresHollywood stars are again on red-alert as wildfires rage through the celebrity enclave of Malibu, California.

More than 35 multimillion-dollar homes have been razed to the ground after flames broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea is one star believed to have lost his home.

Brit actress Minnie Driver and Hollywood heartthrob Matthew McConaughey were both seen evacuating their homes as flames came dangerously close.

The star-studded area under threat from the blaze also includes the lavish homes of Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Pierce Brosnan, Jim Carrey, Sting, Bill Murray, David Arquette and Courteney Cox.

It is the second time in less than a month that fires have threatened the area. More than 1500 acres of land have so far burned by the blaze, which was whipped up by strong winds of up to 50-miles-an-hour.

Flames have threatened more than 200 other homes including the beachfront properties of several Hollywood actors.

The fire department has not reported any injuries but has called for more than 14,000 homes to be evacuated.

At least eight large water-dropping helicopters, as well as two SuperScooper airplanes, have been assigned to the blaze to help the hundreds of firefighters trying to save homes on the ground.

Malibu is located on the California coast about 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles. It is popular with Hollywood actors because of its stunning private beaches and horse riding mountain wilderness.

The brush fire is believed to have broken out at 3am on Saturday morning.

None of the Stars, Starletts, or average Malibu citizens would have had ANY worries about wildfires if the Governator and the USFS weren’t so Russiaphobic. On July 19th, a letter was sent to the Governor, offering as many as six of the largest, and most efficient firefighting air tankers in the world. Each giant IL-76 Waterbomber can, and has for the past fifteen years worldwide, put out raging wildfires in windy conditions over an area equal to 12 football fields in just one 10-second pass. California officials chose instead to hire a 62-year old WW-II relic at three times the price and half the capacity, thus allowing the fires to burn further out of control. I could use some “Starpower” to help me get the word out about this ridiculus situation.
