On July 19th, a letter was sent to the Governor, offering as many as six of the largest, and most efficient firefighting air tankers in the world. Each giant IL-76 Waterbomber can, and has for the past fifteen years worldwide, put out raging wildfires in windy conditions over an area equal to 12 football fields in just one 10-second pass. California officials chose instead to hire a 62-year old WW-II relic at three times the price and half the capacity, thus allowing the fires to burn further out of control. I could use some "Starpower" to help me get the word out about this ridiculus situation.
