Peta target The Olsen Twins for anti-fur campaign

TrollsensThe Olsen Twins have become a target for anti-fur campaigners in the US.

5Mary-Kate and Ashley, 21, have been fingered by animal rights organization, peta2 for wearing fur and using it in their fashion collection.

Peta2 have attacked the twins, with an ad, which carries the tagline ‘Fur is Worn By Beautiful Animals and Ugly People’ – and a website that pokes fun at the twins calling them the ‘Trollsen Twins.’

The poster ad will be unveiled today (11 December) at the Olsen’s Walk of Fame star on Hollywood Boulevard, while the website is already up and running.

The interactive website names the Olsen twins ‘Hairy-Kate’ and ‘Trashley.’

It features a ‘Fatal Fashion’ animated dress-up game complete with animal skins and the accompanying blood; and a mash-up video called ‘Full House of Horrors,’ in which footage from the twins’ former TV show Full House is interspersed with scenes in which animals are killed for fur.

Dan Shannon, assistant director of youth campaigns for peta2 said: “No one would argue that Mary-Kate and Ashley could use some meat on their bones, but the last thing they need is hair on their backs – especially when it belongs to someone else.”

Shannon added: “These two are a couple of real lightweights when it comes to both taste and compassion.”

In 2006, Ashley Olsen was included on PETA’s worst dressed list for wearing fur. In January 2007, The Olsen twins were named in the Forbes list of Top 20 richest women.

They have an estimated combined wealth of $100 million.
