The Spice Girls play to a half empty arena

Posted by

Spice GirlsSpice Girls promoters who boasted of a sell out tour would have been embarrassed last night. The fabulous five, known as Geri, Victoria, Mel C, Mel B & Emma performed to a half-empty arena, after many ticket holders failed to show.

According to reports, seats in the Mandalay Arena auditorium were empty as the group took to the stage for their second show in Las Vegas.

Wayne Rooney’s girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin eagerly snapped up her spot and boxer Ricky Hatton joined David Beckham in a private box.

However, the A-Listers didn’t make up for the high number of vacant seats – but the girls soldiered on, performing their now familiar routine

Last night’s poor turnout is not the first disappointment the Spice Girls have encountered since their reunion.

Their charity comeback single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) is the worst selling Children in Need song EVER after it only managed Number 10 in the UK singles chart – a far cry away from their 90s heyday.

They were overshadowed by X Factor winners Leona Lewis & Shayne Ward, as well as Aussie singer Kylie Mingogue with her single ’2 Hearts’.

The Spice Girls play their last show in Las Vegas on Tuesday night before heading to New York.

Yep! You got it right! I was there and there were thousands of empty seats – most of them great seats right off the floor. Sound was terrible – unimpressive.
