In Praise of…Madonna

Madonna

Showbiz Spy brings you a special feature, as we praise a list of celebrities that need praising, noting trivia and quotes.

Madonna has been the Queen of Pop, since that fateful day in 1982 when she made her breakthrough, inevitably signing an exclusive deal with Sire Records, as she received her welcome into Pop with ‘Everybody’. Going into the mid-80s saw ‘Like a Virgin’, ‘Material Girl’, ‘True Blue’ and other brilliant hits reach the US, Britain and beyond.

But it’s not only her music that has made her one of the world’s most talked about celebrities, it’s her unimaginative behaviour in the public eye, to pick a few out:-

- Her ‘Lesbian’ publicity stunt in 1989, about the time Vogue was released.
- Brandishing her name into controversy when ‘making out’ with Jesus in the music video of ‘Like a Prayer’
- And that video, ‘Erotica’, that could only air three times on MTV until being banned.

So, she has been in her fair share of trouble, strife and electrifying success since her birth in 1958 – unbelievable. But, ultimately, her trivia and unfinished brilliance will grasp the nation for years to come, with a new album being released soon, even her 2005 album reaffirmed her fresh and reasonably unique musical success.

In April 2007, it was revealed Madonna had plans to adopt a three-year-old girl, Grace, from Malawi. The new addition would be a big sister to David Banda, the 18-month-old boy she adopted in 2006. Another ‘controversial’ episode from Madonna, but you’ve got to give it to her – whatever that girl does gets publicity.

They all come and go except for Madie whose charm and music never fades. She’s not only an icon for her art but for every line she preaches through her songs. Madonna is the biggest event in the music industry and fans like me who love her so dearly will continue to buy her records and fill arenas as long as we live. MADONNA RULES.
