Nick Lachey hit the high note as his choir was crowned the winner of a US reality show.

The 34-year-old Newlyweds star led his music group to victory on Clash of the Choirs – and took home $250,000 for the charity of his choice.

Lachey jumped for joy as he discovered he had finished in top spot, while runner up Patti LaBelle shook her head and clapped politely.

On Clash of the Choirs, five celebrities formed their own music groups from their hometowns in the United States to raise money for charity.

Kelly Rowland and Michael Bolton’s groups were voted off earlier this week, leaving Lachey, LaBelle and Blake Shelton to battle it out in the finale.

While Lachey took home the prize money, LaBelle finished in second spot and Shelton came third.

Kudos to Lachey’s group. They were a true choir. Patti Labelle’s group was great and they featuring several outstanding soloists… but they weren’t a real choir. The right “choir” won. And don’t get me wrong, I’m a HUGE fan of hers, but Patti Labelle’s ungracious reaction and comments after the winner was announced only added to my feeling of dislike for her rather diva-like behaviour throughout the show.
I never heard of Blake sheldon before this show, but he was an absolute riot every time he opened his mouth. If only they had shut up the inane banter of Maria Menounos (who ever she is), especially her repeated question to the celebrity judges of “Who do you think should win?” … as if they can say anything.
