I consider prostitution in Thailand to be established and customary. I have studied overseas since I was a young girl, I came back home to BKK every semester. The amount of times I sat next to a Caucasian man taking off his wedding ring as we were landing was rather confounding and disturbing to me (like the women he’s going to fornaicate with is really going to care, perhaps it was for his own peace of mind?). However, instead of condemnation of these women, why don’t we start looking at the men who continues to let this degrading industry grow? These girls have no education; some have been sold by their own families since they were children before they can even reach their teens. I think we should stop judging these women and men. They both know what they’re getting into. The men as someone has commented probably could not find someone in their own country and wanted some companionship. As for the girls, they just want a better life. I think it is horrible to think that marrying a prostitute will only lead to infidelity. The past should be in the past, it was their profession not who they are. None of us know their stories and how they got into the business. So we should just stop criticizing.
