Actress Angelina Jolie almost pulled out of adopting her first child Maddox – because she was scared she wouldn’t be a good enough parent.

The ‘Beowulf’ star, 32, adopted 6-year-old Maddox from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002.

“They put him in my arms and I stared at him and I started crying and he smiled,” she tells Hollywood TV.

“I hadn’t held children before in my life. I was always considered so dark and I thought maybe I shouldn’t be someone’s mom because I’m not so sure about myself.”

Angelina overcame her anxiety and is now a mother of 4. She adopted a further two children, Zahara, 2 and Pax Thien, 3, and has a one-year-old daughter Shiloh with partnerr Pitt, 43.
