Westlife star Kian Egan is to marry his girlfriend, former Hollyoaks actress Jodie Albert, after he proposed to her on Christmas day, it has been announced.

Albert, 23, said yes when Egan, 27, popped the question.

“I’m over the moon that Jodi said yes and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with her,” he said.

The couple have been dating for the past four and a half years.

No date has been set for the big-day – but the wedding is reportedly planned for 2009.

Egan made sure the proposal was a surprise – in an interview at the beginning of December the ‘Flying Without Wings’ star said: “I don’t think I will do it at Christmas.

“It’s not that it’s corny, I think it’s lovely to do it at Christmas time. It’s just that I have different plans.”

The Irish singer follows in the footsteps of his Westlife bandmates Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne, who married their long-term girlfriends in 2003.

Mark Feehily is in a relationship with long-term boyfriend Kevin McDaid.

Their former bandmate, Brian McFadden, divorced I’m A Celebrity winner and former ‘Atomic Kitten’ star Kerry Katona in 2006 and recently announced his engagement to Australian singer and former actress Delta Goodrem.
