LA Galaxy soccer star David Beckham bought his eight-year-old son an Iphone for Christmas, it has been revealed.

Brooklyn -  David and Victoria’s eldest son, apparently begged them for the must-have gadget last year after hype in the US reached fever pitch.

A source said: “David and Victoria are aware that Brooklyn is very young to have a mobile. But they thought it would be a good idea so he could call them whenever he needed – especially with David and Victoria globe-trotting so much.

“Brooklyn is really switched on with computers and gadgets. He set his heart on the iPhone when he saw it on TV in America.

“He loves computer games and is always on his PSP handheld console.”

David and Victoria – who also have two other sons, Romeo, 5, and Cruz, 2 – reckon Brooklyn needs the $399 phone to keep in touch during their hectic schedules.

33-year-old Victoria has been jetting around the world with the Spice Girls for their reunion tour, and David, 32, is set to join up with Fabio Capello’s first England squad in February for the friendly against Switzerland.

But child expert Dreena Hamilton warned the Beckhams risk spoiling their son.

She told British newspaper The Sun: “An eight-year-old can have no possible use for an iPhone – it’s irrelevant to his life.”
