Simon Cowell urges Britney Spears to get help from her mum

Simon CowellTV’s Mr Nasty has waded into the whole Britney Spears debacle — and urged the troubled singer to get help from her mum.

The millionaire X-Factor and American Idol judge said Britney’s meltdown last week could have been predicted, and that he wished he had been on hand to stop the singer from self-destructing.

Cowell, 48, said: “From where I sit, you could see this coming a long time ago. I said six months ago that she should go home.

“I’d have said, ‘Stay with your mum, don’t go out with your stupid friends, just live normally.’ You’d be amazed — you live normally, and suddenly everything becomes normal.

“All that craziness, being followed around and all that stuff, it’s going to do your head in. But you can get away from it if you want to.”

The music mogul spoke just days after a the troubled pop princess was snapped being taken to hospital strapped to a stretcher.

And yesterday, the Britney madness continued on the streets of LA – as Brit – who’s rumored to be dating British paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, drove around erratically, then abandoned her car in the road when it got a flat tyre — and ended up cadging a lift home with a second paparazzi snapper.

Cowell – who’s responsible for the careers of clean-cut acts such as Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson added to British newspaper The Sun: “I do feel sorry for Britney. I would have taken her somewhere quiet for six months. The problem with Britney is that I don’t think there’s anyone in her life that she listens to.

“Someone should have said to her, ‘Right, enough. You can see where this is heading, you’re not going to cope with it yourself’.”

When told that Amy Winehouse had taken herself to Bryan Adams’ luxury villa on the Caribbean island of Mustique to detox, Cowell said: “That’s exactly what you have to do, take yourself out the glare.

“I do feel bad for Britney. But having said that, then I see the real world where people really are struggling — haven’t got enough money, haven’t got enough whatever — and you have to temper that with, ‘Stop being stupid, go home. Life ain’t that bad’.”

When asked how he keeps his acts – who are very rarely seen in the papers for the wrongs reasons, on the straight and narrow, Cowell said: “I suppose the answer is, we’re very matter-of-fact with them from the start.

“We sit them down and say, ‘Look, you have to treat people the way you would want to be treated yourself’. If your ego takes over and you fall out with us, you could end up working in a shoe shop or you’ll walk into Sainsbury’s and people will say, ‘Didn’t you used to be . . ?’.

“So we tell them that, and they generally listen to us. And if they did start to misbehave, I’d have no problem about hauling them up and telling them straight to pack it in.”

Cowell — interviewed while on holiday at a five-star resort in Barbados — also revealed the softer reality behind his ruthless “Mr Nasty” image.

He takes his mum on holiday to Barbados each year, and is patron of a dog sanctuary there which he set up with a $20,000 donation.

He added: “People sometimes mistake honesty for nastiness. But I’m just honest. I don’t say anything on TV I wouldn’t say in the real world.”

Meanwhile, Britney’s estranged husband Kevin Federline is reportedly trying to take legal action to stop the singer seeing pap Ghalib.

K-Daddy’s legal team are investing Adnan’s immigration status in the hope of sending him back to the UK.

“Kevin’s team want him sent home, if he hasn’t got his papers in order,” claims a source.”They also plan to bring Adnan before the court to explain why he took Britney into hiding when she really needed further medical attention.”More…

Federline – who now has full custody of his and Britney’s two children – is said to be worried sick about his ex-wife’s mental state.

“Kevin and his legal team want to get Britney away from him [Adnan],” the source added to British newspaper The Sun.

“Dating a photographer who has tailed her for months is like sleeping with the enemy.

“They are concerned he is not looking out for her.”
