Rapper Eminem is recovering from pneumonia that sent him to hospital over the Christmas period, it has been revealed.
“Over the holidays, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, was under doctor’s care at a Detroit-area hospital for complications due to pneumonia,” the the ‘Slim Shady’ star’s publicist, Dennis Dennehy, said.
“He has since been released and is doing well recovering at home.”
Eminem’s illness was first reported by the celebrity website TMZ.com.
The 35-year-old rapper, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III – known for his bad-boy demeanor and hits ‘Lose Yourself,’ rose to stardom thanks to a number of best-selling CDs, his personal lyrics and a starring role in the hit 2002 film 8 Mile.
The star won Grammys, including best rap album for The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, and an Academy Award for the song Lose Yourself from 8 Mile.
Insiders also say that Slim Shady’s weight has recently ballooned to more than 200lbs.
The rapper is now recovering from his illness at his Michigan mansion.
