Katie Holmes cringes with embarrassment as she is shown photographs of herself as a little girl.

Holmes was being interviewed on U.S. TV show Good Morning America when the show flashed up pictures of her through the years growing up.

The star clearly blushed and pulled embarrassed faces – especially when her mum Kathleen came on to tell amusing anecdotes of her childhood.

Katie’s mum said that the star had been a “strong-willed child”, adding: “I ended up looking for books on ‘The strong-willed child’ because I thought, ‘Oh no! I don’t know what to do!’

“She would choose her own little outfits. I’m sure the people thought, ‘Nobody loves this girl – what is that outfit she has on!’. She had put it together herself.

“We just thought, OK, fine – ‘You look beautiful honey!’.”

Katie suggests her own daughter, Suri, could be following in her footsteps.

“She’s delightful,” she said.  “She’s very strong and bright and she picks out some of her clothes.

“She’s beautiful – very smart.”

Viewers also saw a clip of Holmes in a high school performance with her singing “Damn Yankees.”
Holmes recalled with a laugh: “That was my sister’s prom dress. I loved it. I was the youngest, I couldn’t wait to get into their clothes.”
