Robert Plant rubbishes Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Music legend Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin fame) doesn’t take kindly to new music – and isn’t scared to make his feelings known.

The aging rock veteran, 59, was heard rubbishing critically acclaimed rock acts Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers – and then demanded to hear Captain Beefheart instead.

A source said: “He was drinking with a woman and didn’t like the choice of tunes playing.

“Radiohead was on and he started complaining. He said, ‘What’s this rhyming c**p?’

“The staff were obviously keen to please him so they changed the music. They put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who they thought might be more up his street. But he didn’t like their stuff either and said it was like a ‘nursery rhyme.’

“He then said he wanted to listen to Captain Beefheart.”

When Zeppelin reunited at London’s O2 arena last year, it won them a whole generation of new fans – but it seems Plant doesn’t have much time for modern-day music heroes.

The source added to British newspaper The Sun: “Radiohead and the Chilis are two of the biggest and best groups in the world. But it seems they don’t compare to Beefheart in Plant’s mind.”

Captain Beefheart’s best-known album was 1969’s Trout Mask Replica, considered a “masterpiece” by fans.

Meh…booooooooring. why does anyone even care what he says anymore. readiohead and rhcp are great bands. hes so bloody old, thats probably why he hates todayss music.

I totally agree…I can’t stand the Chili’s pop, sellout B.S. or radioheads rhyming crap. Chili’s used to be a rockin’ act and were different a long long time ago. God, 1988 they were a completely different band. For the last 12-15 years they and radiohead and that stupid rhyming sheite its like poo anymore. Playing for the poontang only I suppose. See, the zep rocked out and got the women without playing all my love songs all night long..Last time I saw the Chili’s the only song they played that was rock n roll was Fire, a hendrix tune….I would rather see a 60 year old zeppelin show this year than ever go see a chili or radiohead show..“Radiohead and the Chilis are two of the biggest and best groups in the world.” The Sun sucks U.S. Balls and so do our bands

Ha, what a jerk! RHCP look soooo up to him and then he goes and makes a comment like that. I dunno bout the concerts some of U guys went to but the rhcp concert I went to was awesome! Hell, during Chads solo he started out with the beginning drums to “rock and roll”, he didn’t have to but he did cause he looks up to the band. Oh and the Captain Beefheart, well if anyone knows anything about rhcp here then they would know beefheart is one of John Frusciantes favorite groups. Plant to me is just washed up and pissed he’s not getting all the “belly button” attention anymore. So there …..*sticking out tongue*….oh and he is not as successful as he was with Zep, remember the honeydrippers? Woooo rockin on out there huh?…psssssh

Well I like RCHP and a bit of Radiohead. Jeez people, stop getting anal over what Robert says. It’s his opinion. Don’t start hating him b/c of his opinion.
And to the guy who said: Led Zepp are over-rated… Mate pull ya head outta ya ass. Led Zepp were inspired by Beatles as well u bell end.

look, I went to a Red Hot show not too long ago, I the way it sounded to me, they played 2 and a half hours and I was so godam bored i wanted to shoot them…sounded like they were playing the same song all that time.
The led is going to get it out and I don’t care if they are in wheel chairs, they offer more to music and to fans as a band than poo bands like radiohead and red hot…

who care’s what he says Led Zeppelin are one of the most overrated bands of all time id take the great Chili’s and the great Radiohead over his music any day, the proof is in the pudding they do a reunion show and every fan with typical bias automatically says it was great. What a crock of crap i saw footage around the net, can you say going through the motions? give me more dollar bills. LedZep what a boring band at least the Beatles had the songs to back up their hype.
