A former reality TV star made an appearance on the next round of auditions of American Idol – but failed to wow the judges.
Julie Dubela, a star of the popular 2003 show American Juniors failed to impress judges at last night’s Miami auditions, with a rendition of the Janis Joplin classic, ‘Me and Bobby McGee,’ and was accused of acting up for the cameras by Simon Cowell.
After Dubela was told a resounding ‘no’ by Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Quaid, and labeled “precocious,” the confident 16-year-old then tried to convince the judges further by bursting into another song, before being stopped and asked her to leave.
Dubela, who lives in New Hampshire, is well known in and around the Boston area, and has performed The Star-Spangled Banner on many sporting occasions.
The aspiring singer made it into the last 20 of American Juniors before finally being voted off.
She failed to make into the next round of Idol, and won’t be going to Hollywood.
Another ‘notable’ performer for all the wrong reasons was Shannon McGough, who boasted a ferocious burp, along with an “atrocious” singing voice.
The 18-year-old, who works with meat in her parents butchers, also performed a Janis Joplin classic, ‘Cry Baby,’ which prompted Cowell to respond, “I might just do that.”
