Rihanna and Jay Z share an awkward moment at the Grammys

Jay Z and RihannaThere was an awkward moment for Rihanna and Jay Z as the pair scooped a Grammy for their collaboration ‘Umbrella.’

Rihanna tried to hold Jay Z’s hand as the pair walked up to collect their rap collaboration award but the rapper shook the singer’s hand away.

Cameras then caught Rihanna throwing her hands up in the air as if to say, ‘What’s wrong?’

The pair then distanced themselves on the stage as they were presented with their trophy. The scenes were made all the more awkward by the fact Jay Z’s girlfriend Beyonce was watching from just feet away.

Last week Rihanna tried to quash rumors that she was romantically linked to the rapper.

The Umbrella singer told US magazine Cosmopolitan that she was horrified at the recent gossip. But she said she’d managed to ignore the whispers, thanks to Jay-Z himself.

She said: “I felt self-conscious around him until he took me aside and said that I just had to ignore it.”

Internet reports had linked the Barbados-born star with her record label boss. It was claimed that Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – was cheating on his girlfriend, Beyonce, with Rihanna but both have denied any romance.

    I am definitely NOT a Beyonce fan right now but I must say that Rihanna has NOTHING on Beyonce. You can talk about it as much as you want, try to put Rihanna up on a pedestal, create a pros and cons list, do whatever you want… but Rihanna just isn’t up there with Beyonce. When you talk about class, personality, maturity, success… she can’t hold a candle… not yet at least. If anything was going on between Jay Z and Rihanna then it’s just that…. a thing. If anything is happening I think Rihanna probably knows that it’s short term and not going very far when she’s up against a chick like Beyonce. If she truly think she has a chance of taking Jay Z away, she’s dilusional and more immature than I already find her. She can cut the hair, make Beyonce-like songs, and make songs with Beyonce’s man but she’ll never be Beyonce. She needs to know that and quit doing things like this to disrespect her. Grabbing his hand at the Grammies?? Uh-Uh. That wasn’t even necessary, I don’t care how happy she was. Beyonce was sitting right there and if Rihanna had an ounce of respect for their relationship, she wouldn’t have done that. Some people took it very lightly but as a woman who’s been through it and knows what it’s like to have to fight the chicken heads off your man, I know what that was up on that stage.

    Rhianna need to grow up. I believe she is having fun with this rumor. She is a young inmature girl who need to grow up. Right before the grammys, she was talking to a reporter and she told them that she is really stressed out, but she will deal with it, I found that strange, but as far as Jay I seriously do not believe he had her. I feel the rumor is so HUGE right now that he is starting to withdraw from her altogether. Sometimes when a rumor become as big as this one has, the celebrity feel some tension from it. What I saw at the grammys last sunday was Jayz basically feeling tired of this nonsense and wanted to get this award and get back to BEY. Rhianna is definetly enjoying it, and Solange didn’t like it either. She had no right grabbing his hand, she should have just went up there, got her award, thanked Jay, and got the hell off the stage. Why she made a big scene is beyond me, but I will tell you this, she will never break up Bey and Jay, it will never happen. People said Bey had a “fake smile”, Bey have class and she will never let anyone see her sweat. When people see that, they got you. Just let it go people! This is definetly a rumor, BUT Rhianna is having fun with it, and I strongly feel she is the one who can’t leave him alone. She is a celebrity obsessed with another celebrity. She have feelings for him, and who knows something may have happened between the two but we will NEVER find out, and I feel whatever happened probably took place some time ago, and she can’t move past it. She is a young girl and these older men get involved with them and they don’t want to commit, then the young girl lose it and causes major problems in the older guy’s relationship. It can be many different reasons, but I have a feeling that “Father Knowles” will sqash it real soon like he did the “Aretha” feud. Get off the couch people and find something to do.

    What’ the del with this site? This is my first time coming here and it’s like a trip back to high school. You can’t say what Jay or Ri is doing unless you are in there doing one of them yourself. All this speculation and accusations are simply childish. I watch the show and never got any of that from their acceptance. I thought it was funny..but could tell the Ri wanted to finish her speach wihout Jigga’s comments. You people need to grow up and get a life of your own.

    I think you all are forgetting that #1 this is Rihanna’a FIRST GRAMMY, #2 Jay-Z put her on the map, #3 Rihanna is young, and #4 even though she is young Rihanna is too classy to be a sideline ho. That being said…no wonder she went to hug the man that helped her get her first grammy…she was too excited to think about what people would say about her grabbing him. Later on Jay-Z spoke to her as a mentor not a lover…explaining to her how no matter what you have to be aware of what the public is seeing, because it will more than likely be taken out of context…Jay-Z and Beyonce are well-balanced individuals, as well as, a couple. Rihanna is young and still finding herself…Jay-z isn’t stupid and he’s already had his fill of “Ms. New Bootys”…stop trying to jump on every chance there is to say something discrediting about his relationships

She was holding her hand up at him because he was doing it in the middle of her thankyous, but it was all very playful and cute. No love triangle, no jealousy, no bad feelings.     I think she was trying to be cute by grabbing his hand… If it was me… I would not have done that out of respect for Beyonce…I think Jay Z, did the right thing by making her let his hand go. She’s not his woman…she don’t need to hold his hand…even if she is (and I don’t think she is) a chick on the side…she’s just playing herself…she’s the one that has to hide the relationship, while Beyonce is on his arm and being treated like a queen in public.

    i dont think jay z and rihanna are acrewing. i think that jay z is just trying to be a good romodel to her because he sees the potential in her. i just think that beyonce is more insecure than she appears to be to us. i thind the only reason that it seems to be ackward moments is because jay z is trying to keep make beyonce feel comfortable because of the rumors he doesnt want the rumors to interfear with their relationship. maybe the reason that beyonce was mad was because jay z never comes on stage when she wins awards for their collaborations but he went on stage when it was time for rihanna to win, but it wasnt his fault, rihanna really did pull him on stage, he tried pulled back un noticably,but she was pulling him harder. beyonce just needs to stop being so insecure, shes the sh!t and rihanna is too but they’re on two totally different levels.
