Eminem to release a tell-all memoir

EminemRapper Eminem is set to publish his memoirs in a new book, it has been revealed.

Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers – who starred in the semi-autobiographical movie 8 Mile, alongside Kim Basinger in 2002 – is set to publish his life story, complete with photographs, hand-drawn sketches, lyrics and journal notes later this year.

The book, entitled Eminem: The Way I Am, is scheduled to hit shelves in the U.K. this October, according to Ian Preece, a senior commissioning editor at Orion Books.

Preece – who claims that the publishing of the book will be a huge literary event, told Britain’s NME music magazine: “Everyone has their own take on Eminem.

“Because of where he is from, people think they know where he is at, what kind of person he really is. This book cuts through all that and gets to the source.”

A spokeswoman for Orion confessed that “there has been some discussion about the timing of the announcement.”

Update: Eminem’s rep has denied these claims, insisting that “the book is still in the process of being written and edited.”

“There is no firm release date scheduled, although it is anticipated to arrive in the latter part of this year,” the rep explained.

“The news about the project today came from the U.K. publisher, who is not involved in the day-to-day editing or creation of the book.

“It’s unfortunate that someone who does not have intimate knowledge of the book felt compelled to jump the gun on announcing it by delivering partial and inaccurate information.”
