Rocker Pete Doherty is set to work with young heroin addicts for a new TV show, it has been revealed.

The ‘Babyshambles’ star, 28, will be paying a visit to some of North England’s toughest council estates where drugs really do destroy lives.

Drug-addled Pete – who has previously checked into rehab to battle his own drugs demons – will reportedly stay with families on the Langley Estate in Middleton, Manchester, and work with a young offenders’ group in Sheffield’s Manor Park.

The singer – who currently lives in a rented country mansion – and has previously been criticized for romanticizing the life of an addict, will film the series, to be shown on British network Channel 4, later this year.

A source said: “Pete really hopes to be able to use his own experiences to help these youths. Hopefully they will be inspired by his visit.”

Pete has also reportedly tried to help Amy Winehouse’s incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil battle his drug addiction – by giving him advice on an opiate-suppressing implant he recently had fitted – as Blake is considering doing the same.

A source said last month: “Pete’s been supportive over Blake’s drug issues as he knows what he’s going through.

“Blake is willing to give the implant a go. The medical team are now looking at another consultation before fitting the implant. They [originally] suggested rehab or the implant.

“Blake was allowed to speak to Pete Doherty to discuss what having the implant was like. It was a way of persuading him that he could kick drugs.”
