The Game being sued for assault

US rapper The Game is being sued for allegedly assaulting a man on a street basketball court.

The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, has a civil suit filed against him for assault, battery, a civil rights violation and negligence.

Shannon Rodrick claims Taylor, 28, approached him aggressively on the basketball court in February 2007 and said: “Your team is garbage.”

According to the court papers, Rodrick claims that Taylor continued to provoke him throughout out the basketball match. During a break in the game, the rap star allegedly punched Rodrick on his left cheek causing him to fall backwards.

Rodrick claims that after he was struck, Taylor went to his car to get a gun, and walked towards him saying, “I’m going to blast this fool.”

The Game was arrested for the incident on 11 May 2007 and was brought before a Los Angeles Judge on 11 February 2008, where he pleaded no contest to a felony weapons charge.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, 150 hours of community service, and three years probabtion. He served just eight days before being released.
