Katie Holmes wants a career like Reese Witherspoon’s.
The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress — who is married to ‘Top Gun’ star Tom Cruise — is determined to be taken seriously in Hollywood and wants to be respected as much as the Oscar winning Legally Blonde star.
A source said: “Katie keeps telling Tom she wants a career like Reese Witherspoon’s.”
45-year-old Tom — with whom Katie has one daughter, Suri — has reportedly offered to help his wife by getting her a great script, but Katie is determined to make it on her own.
The source added: “Tom has offered to make calls to ensure she gets a first refusal on the hot scripts, but Katie insists she wants to achieve success without his help.”
Since her role as Joey Potter on The WB television teen drama Dawson’s Creek, Katie, 29, has appeared in a handful of hit films, including ‘Batman Begins’, ‘Thank You for Smoking’ and ‘Phone Booth’.
