She may be a multi-millionaire hotel heiress — but that didn’t stop Paris Hilton from checking into a cheap bed and breakfast while in Liverpool with boyfriend Benji Madden.
Hilton — accompanying Madden on tour with his band Good Charlotte — stayed in a $90-a-night room at the rather basic Lord Nelson Hotel — which is in the center of Liverpool’s red light district; and has had to fight off a reputation as a haunt for lonely businessmen entertaining their “lady friends”.
A onlooker said: “They arrived in a muddy Range Rover and had only booked a single room. We were shocked when we saw Paris walk through the door – you don’t normally get Hollywood celebs coming here.
“She stayed in her room and her boyfriend met her later and they had a drink at the bar. When people started pestering her for an autograph, Benji told his security and they kept the blokes away.”
Another onlooker, who also saw the couple arrive at the hotel — even managed to get a few moments alone with the socialite.
21-year-old Ali Williams said: “Paris was very quiet. She was with Benji so I asked her for a picture and she said she just wanted to drop her bags off first.
“She came out of the gig at about half nine to go back to the hotel – still wearing her sunglasses.
“Benji came out of the hotel about midnight, had his picture taken and signed autographs. They were holding hands the whole time.”
Yesterday, they set off to Southampton for Good Charlotte’s gig last night.
