Janet Jackson to launch world tour on September 11

Janet JacksonJanet Jackson is set to launch a new world tour on September 11, she has revealed.

“The next big thing on the agenda is prepping for the tour,” she says. “I’m still promoting the new album [Discipline] right now, but we’ll be getting into rehearsals in about a month and then start touring.”

This Saturday, Jackson, 41, will receive the Vanguard Award at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s 19th Annual Media Awards. Past award recipients include Jennifer Aniston, Whoopi Goldberg, Antonio Banderas, Liza Minnelli and Charlize Theron.

And she’ll be dressing in style when she collects her award. “I am going to wear Ralph Lauren,” she said.

The award will be presented by Ellen DeGeneres, a personal favorite of Jackson’s. “I absolutely adore her,” Janet tells E! Online. “She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s fun to be around. I really enjoy her. She’s very talented.”

And who is Janet going to support in the presidential election? “I kind of have an idea,” she said, “but I am going to keep that to myself. I really haven’t for sure said, This is it. I’m swaying definitely one way more than the other.”

After two disappointing albums – 2004’s Damita Jo and 2006’s 20 Y.O. – Jackson has returned to the top of the charts with Discipline, her sixth No. 1 album.

Janet says her next goal is Broadway. “I would love to do a musical,” she said, adding that she’d like to do something “that touches on everything—something that’s funny and dramatic, but definitely a musical.”
