James Garner Recovering From Stroke

Posted by

LATEST: Movie veteran JAMES GARNER is on the road to recovery after suffering a stroke last month (May08).

The Maverick star was hospitalised in May after collapsing and undergoing surgery.

America’s National Enquirer reports the 80-year-old was kept in intensive care for three weeks, and only released on 30 May.

Sources claim Garner is now regaining the power of speech, and making signs of recovery.

The insider tells the Enquirer, “He’s pulling through, but he has a long recovery ahead of him. But he’s improved steadily.

“Jim will definitely need intensive physical and speech therapy. Fortunately Jim’s a fighter – and his wife Lois has been at his side.”

His publicist confirmed to the tabloid, “His improvement is wonderful.”

    Dear James Garner,
Since your Maverick days, I have always wanted to see anything you have ever been in. Last year, my wife called me in, said there was a James Garner movie on. I dropped what I was doing to see it. Turned out to be Dedication Day and it was great. Breathing Lessons is on tonight and I will watch it and I know it will be terrific. For my wife and I, you are the one person who transends any show. Sorry I’m a little late, but it’s about time you heard what people really think of you.

My prayers are with you for your recovery and thanks for the joy you have given us all with all your movies and being such a classy man.

    Mr. Garner,

I don’t know you but……Thank you for living with such integrity and humor. You leave the perfect image of character for men of the past, present and future to aspire to emulate.

You gave me a glimmer that maybe there is hope for belief that good men do exist.

Every time I hear John McCain refered to as Maverick, I think “Maverick used to come into my living room every week, and he sometimes brought his brother Bart. My family and I knew Maverick -and Mr. McCain, you are not the real Maverick”.

I have been madly in love with James Garner since I was 6 years old when Maverick aired. I have seen all of his movies at the very least 20 times each (especially, Move over darling, the Thrill of It All
and the Americanization of Emily-which I own the movie sound track)He has been my friend at every stage of my life. My Dad would say,”your friend is on” and I would know exactly who my Dad was talking about. He is just as handsome now as he was years ago and having seen rare interviews, he is such a down to earth good guy-I wish the best of health and happiness to James Garner, he will always have a special place in my heart.
