He might be one of the world’s richest men and have his own worldwide travel empire — but that didn’t stop Richard Branson from slumming it on the London Tube.
The Billionaire Virgin boss, 57, was this afternoon spotted graciously snapping up a Tube ticket at London’s Kensington High Street station.
Unfortunately for him, Branson committed the typical rookie tourist error and tried to squeeze through the ticket gates on the wrong side.
An onlooker tells London’s Metro newspaper, “It was really funny to watch. It was obviously his first time using the Tube and he just couldn’t figure out how to get through the gates properly.
“But then again why would he need to use the underground? He’s rich. It did make me wonder – where was his private jet?”
After a couple of failed attempts, the smiling businessman had to be ferried through with the help of a fellow commuter and was safely on his way.
Branson, who set up Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Trains, is the world’s 236th richest person, according to Forbes magazine’s 2008 list of billionaires.
